Sound on! I’m going to start by saying how proud I am of myself as a mother. I didn’t realize it in the moment, but watching back this video, I noticed my breathing 😮💨 I was unconsciously intentionally breathing to stay regulated 👏🏼 This is a new skill I’ve been trying to teach myself and my daughter 🥹 I think it’s so important to be able to step outside of ourselves for a moment and appreciate just how far we’ve come. This video is EXTREMELY unflattering and ABSOLUTELY authentic. Both my kids were tired and melting 🫠 and this is a very normal situation on most days lately. 😵💫 This is our reality….This is why babywearing is so extremely important to us. I figured I’d capture the magic that is wrapping in real time. I know the video is long but you are able to see just how quickly an extremely high stress, chaotic situation becomes quiet and regulated. 🤍the screams become smiles…and then sleep. If I could give a single gift to any new parent…it would be the gift of wearing your child. I share a lot of beautiful baby smiles- I figured it was only fair to show how we get there. So to all you parents barely surviving most days…this is our normal…you will make it through. Give yourself grace, hold those babies close, and remember to breathe. It is safe to say I have now been to many many farms, and I have to say this one was the best I have been to so far. @ashendhousefarm There were so many activities to get involved in, including pony riding, bunny and guniea pig stroking, feeding the sheep and goats and many other activities. Tandem breastfeeding has its daily highs and lows. I fought really hard through my pregnancy to maintain some sort of supply to continue feeding Mara. Her interest in feeding came and went with its own highs and lows, but we always held on to a few feedings a day. When my supply came back in after giving birth to Rian, the look of pure joy on her face after her first full feeding made it all worth it. Some days are hard- she wants in on every one of his feedings, she doesn't understand why I can't always accommodate them both, I've had to say no to her request on occasion- and all of these moments break my full attachment momma heart. As we've gotten adjusted to the newest member of our crew we are figuring out what works best for us as we continue to pursue this breastfeeding relationship. Every day the three of us settle in for an afternoon nap. A babe on each breast, I sing them to sleep. Most days Mara wakes mid nap to kiss her "baby brudder" on his soft head, and other days Rian grabs her hand mid snooze. And then my momma heart breaks wide open for a different reason. I'm reminded in those moments why I chose to proceed this way. Their relationship will be so strong because they got the opportunity to share these moments. My memories of them as tiny humans, warm in my lap, listening to both of their breaths will forever be stamped on my brain and heart. I love these two. My kiddos. Even in moments of being touched out, over stimulated and feeling like I can't take it for another second. You're allowed to not love every second of a choice you feel is right.
