SD County has some great cycling infrastructure, lots of car-light/free roads and paths out in nature. Really enjoying the super bloom. The first photo is my work in 2013 versus this year.. ( looking at it now it’s not even in focus. oops) These photos are of the same 2 boys.. taken 11 years apart. I was 3 years post college grad with a degree in photographic technology when I took the first photo. There is a reason a photographer charges what they do; I try to be reasonably priced while, still making a living for my family. My business has become my main source of income for my family.. and a huge thank you goes out to ALL of my clients. You are so appreciated and I am beyond grateful that you continue to have me memorize your big and small life moments.. A session may take me only 15 minutes, but editing takes me hours upon hours, and the number of years and time I’ve spent doing this help me in not having to occupy your whole day with a session (although, I would love to sit and chat with all of you all day lol). A photographer pays monthly fees for editing software, for gallery delivery sites, subscription costs, for booking sites, equipment cost and more . Eventually gear wears out and needs replacement or repairs. We buy props, backdrops, and travel. Then at the end of the year we have to pay taxes on all that we’ve made and saved throughout the year. I will never be the type of human being to disparage another person, their time, efforts or business.. my father was self employed and I will continue to carry myself, and my business the way I was taught. Dr. Nimat Barazangi and Dr. Muawia Barazangi were a notable presence on Cornell’s campus for over 50 years, both having immigrated from Syria. Dr. Muawia Barazangi was a senior scientist and professor at Cornell University in the Earth and Atmoshpheric Science department. His work focused on seismotectonic at regional and global scales, and initiated the development of a comprehensive Geographic Information System for the Middle East and North Africa. He mentored many students and junior faculties. He passed away in March 2022. Dr. Nimat Barazangi is a research fellow at Cornell University, with her work focusing on Muslim women and the relationship between religious and gender identities. She has been involved in many organizations, both at Cornell’s campus and nationally, that emphasize studies of the Middle East, Islam, and gender. Have you read the Stewart family’s three-generation story in the newest #broomemagazine? The family’s #sunybroome story begins with Dr. William D. Stewart (BT’ 58). After high school graduation in 1954, Bill enrolled in the Broome Technical Community College. As one of only three men in his program, he studied typewriting, shorthand, and transcription. After starting a family and a stint of teaching in Africa, Bill spent 27 years as an Alfred State professor. He passed away in 2016. Unlike his father’s college experience, Steve Stewart’s BCC degree was not traditional. Over six years, he took classes in a Universal Instruments Corporation conference room. While working full-time and tackling classes part-time seems daunting enough, he also came home every evening to a house full of eager little kids. Eight kids, to be exact, all under nine, thanks to back-to-back sets of twins. “I knew that I didn’t want machining [at Universal] to be my life’s career,” Stewart said. He averaged two to three classes per semester with his wife, Carol, encouraging his studies. “She always prayed that I would do well on my exams.” He notes she later did the same for their children's college efforts. When it came time for the Stewart children to go to college, their parents recommended SUNY Broome. Their children could live at home, keep part-time jobs, and affordably earn their degrees through the help of grants and SUNY Broome Foundation scholarships. “I can still picture our kids all sitting at the kitchen table working on their FAFSA’s together,” Stewart said. 🚲 ＣＹＣＬＩＮＧ [ENG-FR] This second part of the expedition across the United States, from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific, is obviously physically demanding, but the equipment is also of paramount importance. My @gravel_pepper1989 bike, with its titanium frame, meets these requirements perfectly, as do the panniers supplied by @givibike. However, as the miles went by, I also had to learn how to solve various technical problems, most of them unavoidable: punctures, worn tires and brake pads, loose spokes, etc. But it will take more than that to discourage me. The latest beer that I reviewed on my YouTube channel once again comes from @stbcbeer, and it's their Orange Twist. This is an Imperial Ale that is brewed with lactose, natural orange flavor and Perry's Ice Cream vanilla extract. Southern Tier and Perry's linked up last year for their Vanilla Scoop, and this year's collaboration is a take on Perry's Orange Twist ice cream. While I love that the vanilla character comes through in spades, the natural orange flavor gives off more of an orange oil vibe than natural or candied. I was hoping for something that is more orange creamsicle-esque, but that isn't the case. I do appreciate that the beer isn't too sweet, which sometimes can happen with a beer like this. This isn't a bad beer, and if you like orange creamsicles, I'd say definitely give it a go. The orange character might be more in your wheelhouse than it is for me. I much prefer Vanilla Scoop to this offering, but I do love that two local companies are collaborating!
