What is your favourite romance trope? I am certainly a sucker for a second chance romance. Characters who were almost together but never got the chance to let their relationship play out. Maybe one left the other or circumstances led to them sacrificing their relationship. But the feelings still burn, and the tension is hot! Waltzing Maguire is definitely one of those stories, and I loved both For the Fight by Leah Ashton and Caitlyn Lynch's Rangers Rescue. 🎧 A u d i o b o o k 🎧 ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Daam 😳😨!! So much happened in this book especially the second half of the book put me on edge. I completely doubted the wrong characters; didn’t get it right at all. This was a thriller right to the end, so many confessions and twists came out that was so unexpected. @hojay92 sure knows how to keep the readers in and on edge. The climax of the story was so different to the way I expected it. I listened it to it on audible so listening to a thriller makes it even more dramatic and the drama intestines. ✨️Snowblooded✨️ Arc Review Plucked from the streets, two children are raised to compete for their guild masters approval. Valour and Petrichor rise to he esteemed members of the Order of Axsten. An assassins guild tasked with keeping order in the city of Vinterstock. Now, they are given with their biggest job yet, to kill the mysterious leader of the city's illegal magic trade. This book had so much promise, assassins, magic, illicit gangs, and remnants of norse mythology all set in an Edwardian style adventure but felt like it didn't really carry this idea. The plot was good and really picked up when the assassins got to the tipping point of their mission but I found so much of the book was filled with the two assassins squabbling with each other, throwing each other insults to annoy the other and not that much work on the mission itself. The two assassins are described as the elite of their group but consistently seemed haphazard, clumsy, and not very believable as the elite assassins they are described as. For me, the redeeming factor was the last 150ish pages where there was fighting, reconnaissance, and some plot twists, all things you'd expect from an assassin novel with high stakes. Overall, I found it an okay novel but could have done with more drama and tension to show the severity of the mission and fewer scenes with what felt like childish behaviour. There were some badass characters that could have been so much more with a little more development. I would have loved to have seen more about the Assassin order and the leader of the group. Прочитала молодежный роман на спортивную тему. Люблю иногда почитать романтические истории, поэтому заинтересовалась этой книгой. Изначально она казалась слишком поверхностной: студенческая жизнь, любовные приключения, банальные отношения пары из разных «слоев общества» - которым нельзя быть вместе, но они безумно влюблены друг в друга. Однако, постепенно книга стала глубже, герои реалистичнее. Помимо отношений, развивались и параллельные сюжетные линии - сложные ситуации в семье, выбор профессии, определение личных ценностей и приоритетов в жизни. Конечно этот роман достаточно «зефирный», где слишком все хорошо и показано с одной стороны. Даже тема с «антигероем» кажется не особо убедительной. Но, вместе с тем, книга милая, во второй половине читается очень увлекательно, а концовка и вовсе трогательная до слез. От книг подобного жанра не стоит ждать чего-то сложного и серьезного. Would you believe someone's story if it kept changing? I can't put into words how much I enjoyed this book. Each page kept me reguessing every suspect and had me on the edge of my seat. It's impossible to put down. If it wasn't for work, I would have read this in one sitting. A gripping novel that had my heart breaking for some of the characters. While some characters had my heart racing in anger. Holly Jackson knows how to grip the reader and keep the story engaging. S @marketa_kom_books , @zivot_s_karol a s @nada_books jsem se tedy pustila do společného čtení a doufala, že si to užiju. Čtivost knize určitě nikdo neupře, pestrost a propracovanost postav také ne. Ale přesto jsem zpočátku nadávala. V jednu chvíli jsem si myslela, že to nedočtu - proč? Nemám ráda hlavní hrdinky, které jsou křehoučké a nezkušené, nevyužijí šance se někomu pomstít a ještě ke všemu na konec vše zvládnou nejlíp. Tohle já nedávám a zpočátku taková Violet opravdu byla a taky fňukala. Pak se to ale obrátilo, Violetina postava prošla určitou fází a najednou mi přišla víc v pohodě. Začala jsem si knihu užívat a nemohla se od ní odtrhnout. Určitě ten hype za to stojí, určitě se těším na další díl s určitě ji doporučím dál! 📚 #BookReview - #TheMurderAtTheVicarage by @officialagathachristie #ReadChristie2024 - April Selection (1930s) April’s Read Christie selection kicks off the next decade, with 1930s THE MURDER AT THE VICARAGE, the first of the Marple novels. This book really is a fine example of Christie’s plotting prowess, as it’s a beautifully layered and intricate mystery with a wonderfully logical conclusion. Along the way, almost everyone becomes a suspect and it’s a fantastic example of literary misdirection and surprising plot twists (before they were the backbone of crime fiction marketing!). I throughly enjoyed trying to follow along with the suspicions and attempt to form my own theories. As always, Christie expertly veils the truth, so that the final revelation comes as a surprise and yet feels so blindingly obvious. This is a very neat mystery, which ties up all the loose ends that have come unravelled along the way. It’s resplendent with suspects - virtually everyone has something against victim, Protheroe - which allows for so many potential motives. One thing that has surprised me with the Marple mysteries I’ve read so far, is how little she appears in the novel. This is no different, as the story is told from the perspective of the local vicar, Clement. As such a key character, I always expect Marple to be more prominent. Having said that, what this does mean, is that her appearances are noteworthy and it’s clear that nobody can match her intellect or intuition in St. Mary Mead! Telling the story from the Vicar’s perspective does allow for a lot of wit to be interspersed between the mystery. Clement is a very humorous character and I enjoyed his observations and some of his slightly unchristian remarks. This blend of wit and mystery makes THE MURDER AT THE VICARAGE just as readable and enjoyable today as it was upon release in 1930!

Black Bird Academy (Töte Die Dunkelheit) 🖤2,5/5 🌶️ 2/5 Rezension: Ich hatte ein echt schwierigen Start mit dem Buch, mir hat leider total die Motivation gefehlt zum lesen, 🥲die Woche hat es jetzt aber mehr geklappt und so bin ich doch noch in das Buch rein gekommen. Es war extrem viel neues, selbst für ein Fantasy Buch und ich kann mir immernoch nicht alles aus dem Buch merken (allerdings gibt es ein Verzeichnis). Die Protagonisten haben mir aber sehr gut gefallen, bei Lore und Leaf hatte ich so einen richtigen Venom Vibe.😍Romantisch wurde das Buch eher in der zweiten Hälfte aber da auch nicht so sehr. The Girl in Times Square - Paullina Simons 🕐🗽 I picked this book from my the library of stepmum, for when I went to New York earlier this month. It seemed fitting to be reading a book set where you're travelling 🤷🏻✌🏻 I had a bit of a love hate with this. I was pulled in, then I didn't want to pick it up. I picked it back up and was pulled in again. Had a bit of whiplash with it really 😅 Overall, I enjoyed this and I'm glad I read it for something different. I do feel like the story was more about Lily and Spencer and everything they went through (fine by me, they were the best part), but less so on the actual case of the missing girl Amy and what happened 🤷🏻 The latter focused on this but it felt like it came back out of nowhere. Low 3/5 stars for me! Bardzo bym chciała, żeby ten esej, bo reportażem tego nazwać nie można, nie był dla nikogo źródłem informacji o Norwegach i Norwegii. Rozumiem, że sensacja i kontrowersja sprzedaje się najlepiej ale uważam, że są pewne granice. Autorka oparła swoją gorzka twórczości, o problem dyskryminacji etnicznej. Zarzuca Norwegom traktowanie Polaków jako podludzi. Przytacza pojedyncze przykłady skrajnych zachowań, generalizując i w krzywdzący sposób opisując mieszkańców północy. Sama wrzuciła wszytskich Norwegów do jednego wora, a cała książka krzyczy jak to Norwegowie traktują Polaków stereotypowo (sic!). Z książki wieje skrajnościami. Przykład - narzeka, że Polacy mają opinie pracowników na czarno i pracujących poniżej stawek rynkowych, po czym już kilka stron dalej chwali się, że jej pierwsza praca była na czarno w sklepie odzieżowym, bo nie chciała czekać kilka tygodni na D-number i cieszyła się że nie wpadła inspekcja pracy. HE HE 🤦🏻♀️Takich smaczków jest sporo. Poza tym forma książki to jeden wielki CHAOS, łącznie z jakimiś wstawkami o pobycie w Chile i chwaleniu się doktoratem i mężem dyplomatą. a nonfiction review on a beautiful sunday Outpost follows our author as he finds the most remote shacks, sheds, homesteads, or just sanctuaries from the elements. It’s broken up into various places around the world that you can discover some true desolate gems. I really love the concept of this, and there are a few chapters/outposts that really captivated me like mars, Utah and his trek through Iceland. There were others though that I felt like the journey of discovering the writing of the story overshadowed the actual story itself. I don’t know if that makes any sense but I just wasn’t as privy to it as I was some other travel writing. still good, just not knock me out. 3.75/5 recommend for those that really love Jack Kerouac and also want to disappear into the woods and never talk to another person ever ever again in a weird scary hermit way not like a cottage core way.
