Worthing has a great wealth of Victorian and Edwardian architecture, including some grand and splendid houses. Sadly, many have been repurposed and are now offices, flats or nursing homes, but the one I visited this morning is a dental practice, at 17 Mill Road. I can only imagine what a fine and ornate dwelling this house was in its heyday, from the few original features that are still intact - the front door, the beautifully tiled porch and the huge stained glass window in the lobby. Lying back in the chair, having unspeakable things done to my mouth, I noticed that the original ceiling with all its fancy plasterwork was still visible, in that room, although obscured by modern additions. Aku kira ini bakal kayak novel-novel GPU sekarang yang menekankan isu sosialnya aja, kayak "nikah itu nggak enak, banyak berantemnya" gitu. Tapi rupanya interaksi para tokohnya asyik. Apalagi Kei dan kembarannya, Niu. Kukira mereka bakal sirik-sirikan, rupanya Niu mendukung hubungan Kei sama Dihan. Dihan... aku nggak ngerti dia maunya apa. Dia yang ngajak nikah... dia juga yang kebelit-belit akhirnya. Perempuan itu butuh kepastian, Dok. Pasien juga kalo nggak dikasih kepastian diagnosis mereka bakal pindah ke dokter lain. Dihan mulai sering bobok di apartemen Kei (no, he's not Teh Celup). He calls her Squish (for real???). Dia juga ngintilin Kei ke tempat kerja kalau nggak lagi sibuk. Dihan mulai tahu namanya cemburu. Kei? Kei katanya susah ngungkapin perasaan. Jadi dia cium Dihan duluan itu sesuatu yang monumental. Pantesan Dihan langsung mleyot. Aku suka dialognya sih. Inggrisnya beneran Inggris nggak kayak aku yang diinggris-inggrisin π aku suka penulisnya nggak trying so hard untuk mendramatisasi ceritanya. Ya udah gitu aja, kejadiannya emang gitu. Aku suka corak budayanya. Aku suka narasinya. Ada tipe cerita yang narasinya ngebosenin seolah-olah penulisnya nggak tahu mau cerita apa. Ada juga yang narasinya lebay dan cringy. Ini nggak. Sweet, kalem. Cocok sama seleraku. Endingnya juga yah gitulah kayak pasrah aja. Covernya sih kurang semarak.
