[ Don’t Hurry, Be Happy ] Earlier this year, when I was hospitalised for a depression relapse, I thought I won’t be able to paint again because my heart felt cold, burdened, my head felt no inspiration and my hands were stiff from meds. A few close friends told me in my desperation panic state “You ARE sunshine and love, so even if you take a year sabbatical break, you are still you. Don’t worry and just rest okay” ☀️ Am grateful for these words of encouragement and self care love to me because today I felt the energy and inspiration to paint some summer sloths 🦥 ~ reminding myself too not to hurry the process of finding myself through joy and play during this season. I haven’t got a place line up for any pop up this year yet just coz’ I’m taking things slow with my recovery. But I’ll be painting a small batch of our signature mixed medium glass art for May-June. Last year for Easter we painted sweet bunnies 🐰 which got sold out and Christmas we painted cute squirrels 🐿️ which got sold out too. Maybe it was summer sloth and the heat, maybe it was quarantine fatigue, maybe my introvert side has been cultivated for so long that it’s dominant now, maybe it was good ole fashioned insecurities / not wanting to be “exposed,” but I had to *force* myself to do the third episode of Split Screen Sessions over the weekend. I generally like singing for people, but the techie aspects of broadcasting the livestream did not feel like something I wanted to take on. It’s out of my comfort zone, tbh. These necklaces match our Summer Sloth enamel pins almost exactly. The little sloth character is just the same but here he’s been joined by some rather lovely leaves which are directly influenced by our original screen print. . The pendant and chain have a rose gold coloured finish and I’m super pleased with how it’s turned out! The enamel contrasts beautifully against the high shine of the rose gold coloured plating. Well these are exciting! We’ve developed two of our screen printed characters into laser cut decorations. . First up, Summer Sloth. I love the clean, simplicity of this character and how the laser engraving subtly picks out his features. . Laser cut from birch plywood by @studio_m_design 👍🏼these little chaps are 6mm thick and are great little decorations - I see mine leaning against picture frames, sitting on top of small piles of books or even hanging from a ribbon. No doubt by I’ll be trying all three of those options out!! .
