Today the #WriterFriendsChallenge is asking us: Are you more of a sunrise or sunset writer? I am definitely a sunrise writer. A proud member of the #5amwritersclub, I have been known to write before sunrise although finally, the sun is starting to show her light before 6 am. Lovely to wake up (on a sleep in day) at 6 am and it is light! Ironically, some of the highest quality work has shown itself after a long day of slogging through a long day working, care-giving or doing whatever is on my calendar during the day. Because of this, I have been scheduling a few night writing sessions during the week so I won’t mindlessly scroll or waste the moments as they pass. The urgency bells are chiming as we head toward Summer when I know I will want to do more consistent playing. I’m a stay-at-home mom of two little kids, so I have to get started pre-sunrise if I want to accomplish anything that requires brain meat usage. I used to write late into the night, pre-kids. But sheesh, those days are over (at least for a few years). After a long, demanding day of solo parenting two very young children, my tank is empty. I’m depleted. Exhausted. I go straight to bed and pass out. Sunday, day 7 of Nanowrimo 2021. I should be working on my novel, instead, I am going with the flow and what I really want to do is to do my astrology map. This is what I feel like doing today. But, I must say that in a way, this will also do me good for my novel. I always had a fascination with the moon, the stars and the planets. I believe there is knowledge out there about the world and about us. Astrology was the closest to that source I could find in my young years and so I study it from time to time. I do not see it as a fortune teller tool but a self-knowledge one. Our blueprint is written in the stars. Obviously, a way to understand my characters is the zodiac sign. I will not do a full chart for them, but I developed a simplistic one. Sun, ascendant and moon. Might add something else, but mainly it will be like that. So, even if it seems that I am not working on my novel, in reality, I am.
