I’m wide awake at 5:40 because Tobias’ struggle to sleep has worried me enough again. I get so nervous listening to his short breaths, heavy breathing, snores with little gasps at the end, his pump like breathing, then the short stop just to catch his breath again, the moans. It sounds terrible and I know it must be exhausting for him because it exhausts me just listening to it. I lay there wide awake wondering if I should wake him so he can start anew and hopefully get the breathing right this time. But then I wonder if it’ll make him even more tired because maybe he won’t be able to go back to sleep. So I silently just pray over him and beg God to help him and help me. I rub his stomach, pat his chest, kiss his head, rub his cheeks. Anything to try to help his rhythm. I know as the human race many of us go through much worse and some go through less. But when you’re in the middle of it none of that matters. So to those in the middle of whatever you’re going through. I see you. I’m praying for you. And I know. It’s not every night that we have such difficulties. And, honestly, to some it may seem like nothing, but to me it’s everything. I hurt when my babies hurt. I’m uncomfortable when they are uncomfortable. But I have prayer and I have hope and I’ll muster up all the patience I can. One day my sweet Tobias. Yet, in the midst of the fretting and the worry and the reminders that this life gets hard; a beautiful reassurance and restful peace was whispering deep in my soul. Last night I knew time had gotten away from me. It happens quite easily and unfortunately frequent. It’s the sign of an over booked, over worked schedule and under appreciated value of time... last night I went to bed knowing full well that we were critically low on groceries. Knowing that I’d have to... piece together some sort of concoction that would resemble some form of a decent lunch from a loving and caring momma for her sweet little pre-k’er. I crossed my fingers this morning as I zipped the little lunch box and set it in his backpack... I didn’t sleep well last night. Yes, my failure at getting groceries before the night sky fell over us was weighing on my mind. But what was more pressing was the health of my baby boy...
