First stop on our 2022 cooper pilgrimage is Tonnellerie Bossuet. This is a super classic and traditional cooper located outside of Bordeaux. Jean Louis grew up here and after working for Radoux opened his own stave mill and subsequently cooperage in 1987. The cooperage is still independent, authentic, small and quality driven. Jean Louis who learned under some great coopers including the late Pierre Darnajou, trains every cooper at Bossuet himself, passing on the skills and knowledge he has learned over his career. Contrary to assembly line production, each cooper at Bossuet crafts their barrel from start to finish and are masters of every step of the process.
