The different estates and wines were explained and presented by the great @giovannigaja, who I’m really thankful for his time and dedication. 🍷Un vino completamente diferente: Tatú sangiovese, un tinto orgánico de Ernesto Catena de la región de Vista Flores, Tunuyán, Mendoza. Producido por la bodega Stella Crinita. 👉🏽Diferente? Bueno, para empezar la botella y su etiqueta. Es una botella borgoña muy liviana con una pequeña etiqueta que evidencia una imagen primitiva de hombres trabajando sobre un ánfora de vino. La contra etiqueta, básica también, de dos colores (rojo y negro) posee una breve descripción del vino y las firmas de Ernesto y Joanna, nada de marketing ni descripciones extrañas, directo al hueso. 🍇Por otro lado, la cepa es diferente al común de los tintos que suelen producirse (y consumirse) en nuestro país: sangiovese. Una variedad proveniente del sur de Italia, una cepa generalmente seca, que se caracteriza por su marcada acidez y un nivel medio-alto de taninos. Por lo que, en definitiva, tenemos un vino orgánico elaborado en una botella fuera de lo común de una cepa poco producida y consumida en nuestro país, pero con el sello de uno de los enólogos más conocidos, Ernesto Catena. El resultado? Me encantó. Es un vino de cuerpo medio, muy frutal y sobre todo rico, muy rico; con una sedosidad marcada y una acidez equilibrada. De final breve pero redondo en boca. Me gustaría resumir a este tinto con una palabra: “elegante”, porque así lo encontré, fresco y elegante. Desde ya que lo volvería a comprar para disfrutarlo nuevamente con alguna picada de fiambres, o bien, un pollo o pavita con verduras asadas. ℹ️Más datitos: La crianza es 75% en ánforas de cemento (quizás de ahí la imagen/homenaje en su etiqueta) y el 25% restante en barricas de 500lts de roble francés usadas. After attending Mucci Import’s Grand Tasting yesterday, talking in depth to several passionate winemakers about their unique grape varieties, growing environments, and methods and exploring so many diverse wines - virtually vineyard hopping throughout Italy - I was fully in the mood for Italian last night. Reached for one of my favorite goto Italian reds…Il Cinque 2019 Toscana from Giovanna Morganti of Le Boncie. Threw together an easy penne alla vodka (substituting balsamic vinegar for vodka and coconut milk for cream). Immensely enjoyed the two together. And dinner was a success. Simple as that. Tenuta Casanove Chianti Classico received amazing scores of 94 points from Vinous, 91 points from Robert Parker and 91 points from James Suckling. This Chianti Classico has grape varieties of Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. It has an intense ruby color with dark garnet nuances. There are ripe red and black fruit, cherry and blackberry, touches of spice and vanilla. Tenuta Casenuove is very smooth and well-balanced with great tannic structure. This Chianti Classico is grown on vineyards that are densely planted with Sangiovese Grosso. The foundation of this wine lies in the typically highly calcareous Galestro soil, shaping its distinctive taste of the original Chianti. Picked solely by hand, the grapes are instantly fermented in small-sized fermenting vessels and then stored in oak barrels. High-elevation vineyards in this 33-acre Castellina in Chianti estate produced a very pretty Chianti Classico that shows orange rind, pressed violets and citrus.
