La D.O. Jumilla es una región vinícola ubicada en la provincia de Murcia. Es conocida por la producción de vinos tintos elaborados principalmente a partir de la uva Monastrell, una variedad de uva autóctona de la región que se adapta muy bien al clima cálido y seco de la zona. Alain a su hisser son domaine parmi les références incontournables de l'appellation Crozes Hermitage mais plus largement de la Vallée du Rhône et de France. Les Syrah du Domaine sont sanguines, intenses, profondes. En particulier sur la grande cuvée La Guiraude. Si le Crozes Hermitage classique peut se boire dans la jeunesse, La Guiraude gagne en finesse et en élégance au bout de quelques années. Ce 2009 devrait nous procurer beaucoup de plaisir ! Un 2010 bu fin 2023 nous avait enchanté mes amis et moi. Malheureusement Alain nous a quitté en 2022, nous boirons cette cuvée en son honneur et à la santé de son fils Maxime qui a brillamment repris les rênes du domaine, et qui a bien voulu m'allouer quelques bouteilles de vieux millésimes. Today we are releasing two variations of our wild ale collaboration with @seagull_whisperer from Discovery Vineyard (Horse Heaven Hills AVA) in honor of conservationist Dr. Steven G Herman. THERE’S NO SUCH THING AS SEAGULLS, OLIVER. Season 3 is a blend of selected wild ale aged in wine barrels for two years, then re-fermented on Discovery Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon & another version on Syrah grapes for several months. We canned this batch still to allow the beer to condition naturally, creating a mild effervescence. This was a fun project to show off the different character of the grape varieties in a mild, approachable wild ale. The Cabernet version features an earthy, peppery spiced red fruit flavor , while the Syrah creates a bright berry fruit character. It takes a few years to produce these beers and that time is an adventure in patience. In this case, these two beers might be our best wine grape hybrid ales so far.
