Japan Day 4 B The rain and humidity were a little fatiguing but I decided to continue on toward Fushimi Inari Taisha. There is a mountainside Shinto shrine with a path of hundreds of torii gates since 711 A.D. I was starting to get lost on which train to take back north so I figured out on getting on one but it was not an express train. It was making so many stops and took way longer. The bench seating was heated which I thought was interesting and nice. Getting off the train you can immediately see it is a touristy spot with all the food vendors in buildings along the street. Instagrammers were everywhere. I bought a strawberry daifuku. The person working taking cash handled the food and the money with the gloves on. 🤢. At least his hands were protected 😓. I guess it was good though. The torri gates traveled up the mountain. At one point I started going along this one path leading into a bamboo forest. After walking this one path for about 15 minutes I saw a sign saying 40 minutes to the end and noticed on google maps it would take me far away from the shrine area. So I turned around. I then continued up, and at a fork I chose the wrong direction leading up to a dead end shrine location. So I had to backtrack down and then back up the other direction. The other side led to a looking out point which had the best view of the day considering the rain and clouds. From that point up it said it would be 40 minutes to the top. The instagrammers were lazy and few at this point, so I decided to go and make it to the top. It became a steep climb up at points. At the very top there wasn’t a view to see out which was disappointing. ⛩️ We had a rest day once we arrived in Osaka. Then, the next day, we had a tour that took us to Hiroshima and Miyajima island. It was somber and a lot of emotions at the atomic bomb site. It was a lot to digest, but like our tour guide said, seeing this helps us never forget. We all really enjoyed seeing the Torii gate in the water off of the island, and we got to see so many cherry blossoms. It was amazing! One of Kyoto’s most popular attractions, Fushimi Inari Taisha is a Shinto shrine dating back to 711 A.D. featuring thousands of Torri gates along the network of paths up the hills and into the forests surrounding the outskirts of the city, what an incredible place and one of my favourite sites in all of Japan! In Osaka haben wir dieses Hochzeitspaar in traditioneller Kleidung bei ihrem Fotoshooting in einem Schrein getroffen! Zuerst sind wir in sicherem Abstand stehen geblieben, um die beiden zu bewundern. Als dann die Fotografen und alle weiteren Helfer - von denen es echt viele gab 😂 - uns entdeckt haben, lächelten sie alle und winkten uns fleißig heran. Sie forderten uns auf, näher zu kommen, und dann durfte ich dieses bezaubernde Foto von den beiden machen! 😍😍😍 Ich habe mich dann mal in die Japanische #hochzeitskultur eingelesen und hier sind einige faszinierende Fakten: Ein wichtiger Teil der Zeremonie ist der Austausch von "San-san-kudo" – das sind drei Schlucke Sake, die das Paar gemeinsam trinkt und ihre Einheit damit symbolisiert. Das "tsunokakushi" ist ein Kopfschmuck für die Braut, der ihre Bescheidenheit symbolisiert und sie vor bösen Geistern schützen soll. Statt Trauzeugen haben japanische Hochzeiten oft "Nakodo" – Vermittler, die die Ehe arrangiert haben, und sie spielen eine wichtige Rolle in der Zeremonie. Moderne japanische Hochzeiten fügen oft westliche Elemente hinzu, wie das Schneiden der Hochzeitstorte und das Werfen des Brautstraußes.
