Pearl Jam / Dark Matter Plus 7" Dark Matter single bundle 今回のパールジャムのニューアルバム。これはもうバンドにとって色んな意味で転換点になるんじゃないかという代物になりましたね。 パールジャムというバンドはグランジムーブメントの代表格であり、その最大のヒットメーカーであり、今やアメリカを代表するロックバンド・ライブバンドな訳ですけど、ことスタジオアルバムにおけるバンド力学という点で見ると、かなり特殊な部類のバンドではないかと思うんです。 なんというか、他のバンドが普通にやっている『耳馴染みのいい』サウンドのアルバムを頑なにリリースしない、という印象があって。いわば良く見せようとする装飾とか媚びとかがない、自然体かつ唯我独尊というイメージなんですけど。 ボディビルの大会にテカテカの油も塗らずに短パンでフツーに出場しちゃうような。えー、それはちょっと皆んなと違うんですけど、と思われても、まぁパールジャムさんだからなぁ、と許容されていたところがあったと思うんですよね。そういう頑固なところがあるけどスゴい人たちだからな、、、というような。 それもこれも今までの実績があったから、なんですけど、こと日本なんかの状況を鑑みると、来日も長らくしてもらえないし、そこに来て硬派なアルバムを出し続けても、新規ファンの増加やレジェンドとしての凄みが伝わりにくい、という面がアルバムリリースからはあったんではないでしょうか。 そこでアンドリューワットの登場となるわけです。 このベテラン再生職人プロデューサーはオジーやストーンズの近年のアルバムを聴けばわかるように、現代の耳にキッチリハマる絶妙なバランス感覚を作品に与えてくれる人で、いわば最近のキッズがアンドリュープロデュースのベテランアーティストのアルバムを聴いても現代的に違和感なく聴けてしまうように仕上げてくれる訳です。 パールジャムも例外ではなく、いつになく耳に入ってきやすいアルバムになっていますね。アンドリューが緻密な感覚でバンドを上手く導いた末にこうなったという感じがすごく見て取れるような感じです。つまりはパールジャムに上手いことテカテカ油を塗ることに成功した、と、、、 あのパールジャムさんがテカテカの油塗ってきたよ！あんなに嫌がってたのに！塗るとスゲェじゃん！ブーメランパンツも似合ってるぜ！キレまくりだぜ！こりゃかなわねぇな！ってなもんですよ。 やっぱアンドリューワット、やるなぁ。 その再生工場はもう90年代アーティストすら対象になってきたんだなーと時代の流れを感じずにはいられませんが、とはいえ今回のアルバムがこんな感じになったのも、パールジャムが久しぶりに本気でリスナーの心を鷲掴みにしようと能動的に動いた結果なんだと思います。こういうパールジャムを聴けるなんてちょっと思ってもいなかったので嬉しい驚きになりました。 レッチリを脱退したジョシュクリングホッファーがツアーに引き続き参加していて、正直その貢献度はパッと聴きよくわからないのですが、良かったね、と安心。 もうあとは待望の来日、しかないわけです。何とかならんか〜ならんかね〜 #pearljam #pearljamfan #pearljamvinyl #darkmatter #eddievedder #stonegossard #jeffament #mikemccready #mattcameron #joshklinghoffer #andrewwatt #grunge #grungevinyl #grungerock #alternativerock #alternativerockvinyl #rockvinyl #vinylcollection #vinylcommunity #vinylrecords #vinylcollector #vinyladdict #vinyllover #vinylgram #vinyligclub #instavinyl #vinyljunkie #nowspinning

Es que ver a PJ actuando es otra cosa; podrá gustar más o menos un álbum; pero mi teoría (dudo que haya sido el primero en decirlo😅) es que esta banda se construye fundamentalmente en vivo. Así ocurrió desde sus inicios; en 1991 Ten no llegó a lo alto como Nevermind (por dar un ejemplo), sino que lo hizo en 1992, luego de que la banda recorriera USA y Europa. Album "Dark Matter" okazuje się sukcesem. Nie można tego określić jako powrót do formy, bo tak naprawdę ten zespół nigdy całkowicie formy nie stracił. Chociaż ich późniejsze albumy studyjne mogły nie mieć takiej siły i wpływu jak choćby "Ten" czy "Vs", tak każda płyta dostarcza momentów świetności. Ich najnowsze wydawnictwo zapewnia jednak bardziej zwięzłą i spójną ofertę, w której każdy członek zespołu może zabłysnąć i wykorzystać swoje mocne strony. Warto było czekać te cztery lata. Album roku 2024? Zobaczymy.
