No time for YOU as a new mother? There are many obstacles for mums to overcome to enable them to take time out for a treatment (or even a quiet sit on the loo!). The saying βself-care is not selfishβ is definitely true. Yes, you DO need to fill your own cup to enable you to continue caring for your family. However, actually making this happen can sometimes seem impossible. I am so passionate about caring for mums and constantly trying to find ways to make it easier for them to access treatments. Two options: Option 1 Motherβs groups; at a venue where you meet ie your house. Each mum receives a 15-40 minute massage, whilst their child is being looked after by the rest of the group. The group does not necessarily need to be a motherβs group, but any troupe of mums in need of some care. 15-40 minutes doesnβt sound like long, but it's amazing what can be accomplished in this time: β’ Relief for tired, aching neck & shoulders β’ Hip and lower back tension release β’ Reduction of fluid retention in feet and legs β’ Relaxation & restoration The way it works There is a booking fee of $100 to secure your spot and cover most costs (payable prior to event). Each mum then only needs to pay $1per minute for her massage on the day. All you need to do is provide the space. Please note: minimum number of participants is four; travel costs may apply. Pregnancy Acupuncture. Many women find receiving acupuncture during pregnancy to be a wonderful way to support a healthy pregnancy. I typically recommend women receive weekly acupuncture treatments through the first trimester. Once through the first trimester the risk of miscarriage drops significantly and fatigue and nausea often subside. From there, I recommend coming for treatment on an as needs basis or schedule regular follow up appointments every four to six weeks or a lot of women will change to having pregnancy massage during this time. At 34-36 weeks, I suggest resuming weekly treatments to prepare for birth. There is great evidence to suggest is reduces the time to birth than women not receiving acupuncture.
