This time last week I was in Dorset and so this week will be dedicated to my quick tour around this beautiful county. On route down there we stopped in Fontmell Magna. It is situated in the Blackmore Vale, close to the chalk hills of Cranborne Chase and is just five miles from Shaftesbury. There's a good chance you've driven through it, if you've been to Shaftesbury, as it's on a busy road. Turn off the road and you will find a quaint and peaceful village. The name Fontmell derives from a Celtic river-name meaning 'spring by the bare hill', and Magna—meaning great. There are 45 structures within Fontmell Magna civil parish that have been Grade II listed by Historic England for their architectural or historical interest. With the Fontmell Brook, a tributary of the River Stour, running through the village, thatched cottages, mill houses, a village pub, a great church and an old chapel it really is worth stopping off here. A few of these shots have been taken from the church higher up. I loved the house with the scaffolding, how lovely it would be to walk out of your house see a stream with the ducks waddling around. Inspired by @marinamorgan7016 I've been on a bench mission this trip, trying to find a bench in every village we visited. I found some beauties so keep an eye for them!
