Sophia’s big ass 100L Alpine Machine pack. This pack is heading to the Alaska range. I have her partners pack about 40% done and it’s a twin to this pack. The two of them came up to get fitted in person and I think they spent many hours sorting colors and trims. It’s fun when people have a specific vision. These packs were to be simple and light. In fact this pack without the lid and frame stays is 3.5 lbs, and is a totally function alpine climbing pack for huge bulky loads of high altitude and/or extreme cold in that configuration. It could be lighter, but lighter fabrics only go so far in weight savings, maybe 8 ounces, but then you have a one or two season pack. Durability and a long, useful lifespan are my primary design goals. I hate adding more shitty gear to garbage pile because someone wanted to save a pound. This pack will be fully functional in 15 years unless Sophia takes up guiding. I do build about half of my big packs for women. This pack is cut wider and lower to fit Sophia’s body and back length and get the volume she wanted. I always avoid making pack deeper, front to back, to keep your center of balance more upright. The further the load is from your back, the more you have to lean forward to compensate. It’s built in Ultra 400 with hot pink Cordura on the base and lower rim/wand pockets. Full 7075-t6 alloy frame stays. Full folded bivy pad, which you an easily remove for use under your self inflating pad. Front and rear haul loops, single ice axe loop snd keeper.extra long compression straps with reflective tape. Lid fits multiple insulated thermos bottles. Flat map pocket under the lid. Sled loops will be on the hip belt. It’s a clean, functional pack. Logo is one of the last few Roam patches I have. Forget-me-not, woodland forget-me-not, Myosotis, in the species name comes from Greek meaning "mouse ear”. Dandelions-Taraxacum are 1 of the first foods for native bees in spring. Before the invention of lawns, people praised dandelions as a bounty of food, medicine & magic. Gardeners often weeded out the grass to make room for the dandelions. But somewhere in the twentieth century, humans decided that the dandelion was a weed. Dandelions are actually good for your lawn. Their roots loosen hard-packed soil, aerate the earth & help reduce erosion. The deep taproot pulls nutrients such as calcium from deep in the soil and makes them available to other plants. They are not a lawn killer, dandelions actually fertilize the grass. For millenniums, people have been using dandelion tonics to help the liver remove toxins from the bloodstream and as a gentle diuretic that provides nutrients and helps the digestive system.
