Active Cycles, a community-driven bicycle refurbishment hub based in Accrington, is working in partnership with Burnley Leisure and Culture (BLC) to launch a temporary pop-up bike shop right here at Charter Walk shopping centre. 🚲 Active Cycles, which is delivered by the charity Active Lancashire, works with partners to save bikes from going to landfill, refurbishing them to sell at a low cost to help make cycling more accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds within local communities. The shop opens its doors on Wednesday 24th April and will be located on Fleet Walk just a few doors down from Costa Coffee. Tuesdays, 9am until 12pm, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 11am until 3pm Saturdays 11am until 2pm Active Cycles is thrilled to announce a special offer to celebrate its launch. I found a new footpath yesterday. It made me very happy. So happy that I was exclaiming out loud the joy I felt as I came round the corner and the footpath came level with some roofers fixing up a building. They were amused. I skipped on my way. Later I found a second new footpath, that was actually a very old and unused footpath that petered out into scrub. I had to climb over a wall to escape. If you're heading to the free Nature Festival at Towneley Park tomorrow you can try out the new PFO Permanent Orienteering Course there! Pick up a map (Easy, Medium, Difficult) from the @lancashirewildlifetrust stand and head off on an adventure. At each circle there will be a Permanent Orienteering post with a plaque on it 🚩 In addition to this there are so many other activities, all free, for all ages-check it out! Mountain vibes & starry skies: Flagstaff, AZ A mountain town in a desert state. Flagstaff is a haven for those who love the outdoors. At over 7,000 feet in elevation, Flagstaff has a unique climate in Arizona that is different from most of the state. There are plenty of hiking trails, ski slopes, biking paths, and many other outdoor activities that have made Flagstaff a popular destination. ⛰️ 🥾 ⛷️ Historic Route 66 passes through Flagstaff. They still have many signs and homages to the mother road throughout. 🗺️ Into astronomy? Flagstaff is the place for stargazing- the Lowell Observatory sits on a hill just up from downtown & all the streetlights are orange colored and face downward to help minimize light pollution & maximize stargazing✨ We stayed in an airbnb within walking distance to the city center. There are a lot of restaurants and bars (& gelato shops🍦) that make for a lively nightlife. What’s the overall vibe? Chill. Steph said it best: Flagstaff felt like a Southwestern Asheville, NC.
