This hug represents so much to me. Let me tell you why. We are working on a tummy issue with Lilly for about a year now. At first, it was just at night, so we thought it was a bedtime delay tactic. Then her tummy hurting was during the day too. I met with the amazing school counselor and addressed some of her big feelings around doing well at school (she's excelling, so it's her perception that we are adjusting). I talked to the Kaiser doctor, who suggested she was constipated. Several months of Miralax later, her silly tummy is still hurting. We went to a natural path at the beginning of Spring Break last week for muscle testing and found out Lilly is sensitive to gluten and artificial food dyes. Yep. That tracks with my own digestive needs... I tried all of the other options first because I didn't want to add gluten free for the whole family. It is so overwhelming. But here we are. A gluten free household... at least for the next 3 months. In this picture Emmy said she is willing to give up vegetarianism so I can focus on a gluten free diet for the family. I'm so proud of Emmy, knowing how much work it has been for me to accommodate her request to be a vegetarian with the additional work of being gluten free. I'm so blessed to be their mama! So proud. We worked on four things last night at Puppy Training (yep we are back in school) and Tilley was AMAZING at stay. This is something we work on in the house but she truly stunned me. There were dogs and noises all around and yet she stayed as I got further and further away. Turns out you are supposed to teach them to "break" so they know they don't have to hold the sit forever. Moments with Auntie! And reasons why I appreciate her! 4. She is so funny! Often I am reminded about how much we get each other and laugh! She is like me in some ways and different in others but always we get can laugh at and with each other about any little thing! 5. She is a great Auntie! She is loving, comforting and patient with our baby! And loves the babies like they are her own. Back home to our older nephew she supports his growth and learning and shows him an incredible love, she is always engaging and teaching our son which leads me to… 6. She is so smart and a good teacher. For her she understands what is important and the stages of a babies development and growth. She teaches me and @thebravecraftsman this all the time and really demonstrates what that teaching looks like. People ask her how does she know so much, and she simply takes in as much as she can, especially when she cares. There are just a few more days left to spend with my sister. Yesterday was a little rough. I was proud of myselfcthat I kept it together. Some cases are harder than others. Some cases trigger trauma that you have been through with your animals. Then on my way home I saw a double rainbow. For some reason, I couldn't put my finger on it, but it made me feel warm. It made me feel a presence of a friend with me. When I got home, I showed mini me the picture I took and she said it better than I could ever, "Mom, a rainbow is how our pets that we have lost are visiting us. They slide down it and leave signs that they are here. I felt Phantom with me after you called saying you were on your way home. I bet Whiskey and Shadow were visiting you too mom." This girl is wise beyond her years. But it makes sense. I mean they cross over the rainbow bridge to get to their next destination... why wouldn't they use it to come back to check on us. I was eating home grown tomatoes and Lynn cold see I was slightly annoyed. She asked me why and I told her that the only thing I can eat, per my plan, for the rest of this #lowcarb day, is non-starchy veggies as I get a free pass on their carbs. The annoyance was mainly because I had plenty of fat still allowed. I was thinking about just eating plain coconut oil. 😂 Lynn suggested I cut up the tomatoes, put some also-homegrown basil, olive oil, and salt/pepper on it. Well it's been one heck of a first yr in school, and she rocked pre primary. If the teachers aren't sugar coating anything, then Elizabeth had a terrific first yr.
