She still has some narrowing of her arch, shunts, and regurgitation, but the cardiologist said it is likely that FINLEY WILL NEVER HAVE TO UNDERGO HEART SURGERY đđđđđđđđđđ! This is amazing, God-sized news. All throughout my pregnancy and for months afterward, every cardiologist we saw informed us that she would definitely have to have surgery to repair her heart. At the beginning of this journey, a very wise mom who has a child with Down syndrome told me, âDoctorâs donât know everything.â She didnât mean it negatively toward the doctors; she said it to give me hope in the power of God. Update: Lorenzo seems to have had a seizure while at school. The EMTs and ED doc think it was possibly a febrile seizure. There's a bit of pushback on my end because Lorenzo didn't have a fever even by the time he got to the ED. Despite his episode, he is such a happy camper as always. Lorenzo and I are back at home. He was taken to the nearest Hospital where they evaluated him. I put in a message for the neurologist we saw when he was younger and we have a follow up appointment tomorrow morning with his primary. đŽđĄ Nottingham Dance Warriors đĄđŽ We are a group of around 70 dancers ranging from 5 to 40+ years. All of the dancers have a learning disability and, every Tuesday evening, they come together to dance. The group is open to people of all dance abilities and all disabilities. All we ask is that they come wanting to learn and to dance. But because we are open to everyone, it means there are many people, like my Matt, who canât get the best from the group unless they have individual support. And this is the problem! With many of our helpers being students, now that the term is finished/finishing we are low on volunteers to help! ! So can you, or anyone you know spare 2 hours (6.15-8.15pm) on a Tuesday to have the most amazing time, and support the dancers who need extra help to take part? âCareer Dayâ at school was a stumper for us. Hazel hasnât picked anything sheâs significantly passionate about for a career. Sheâs a lover of everything and has few words to articulate her desires for her future. We spun it a little and I made her a silly little shirt after googling for what seemed like hours. The more I dug into this, which started as a silly thing, made me think so deeply. People with Down syndrome have a life expectancy of around 60 years old. It used to be 25, largely because of institutionalization. So sad, that an extra chromosome deemed you to be unworthy of opportunity and gave families such great fear and embarrassment. Iâm blessed to live in a time where Hazel Grace can do ANYTHING and is respected by peers and family. She is valued. Her life is precious. Her mind is brilliant. Her compassion and empathy is second to none. So, this silly t-shirt about wanting to be a âGolden Girlâ has evolved into a prayer that she gets to be a gal that lives into her golden years and gets to live a long and loving and joyful life. What a wonderful and proud day for so many of our families. Today we had our Mansfield show at Portland College. Headlined by our Mansfield Dance Warriors groups, both junior and senior, it showcased some amazing dancing from all the dancers. They were joined, in the show, by âSing & Sign Togetherâ, our NDSSG Makaton choir. And 13 of the Nottingham Dance Warriors joined the Mansfield Warriors to perform a special rendition of the Fight Song. Thanks go to all our wonderful dancers, Lianne the dance teacher and all the amazing volunteers, without whom the groups wouldnât function. And also to Jess and all the members of the choir. Refreshments were provided by the mums, including some beautiful homemade cakes At the end, we drew a raffle that some of the mums had organised, with 43 prizes! Physical therapy is important for children with DS. Because of their low muscle tone, developing those gross motor skills are critical for rolling over, sitting, standing, crawling, and walking. It's not always easy to watch. However, the end result is of great benefit. Boss started physical therapy at 3 months. By 8 months, he was rolling over on his own, unsupported sitting at 10 months and crawling 14 months. It's amazing to see the progression and growth.
