Today I want to apologize to my inner child for not knowing how to take care of her but I was never taught how to do it. As I wrote this, I couldn’t help but cry, thinking about how she grew up like an elephant in captivity, not knowing that she could break free from those chains. In my healing process, I am helping her cut those chains, but there is still a long way to go. You may be wondering why I share something so personal; But my intention is that if you feel desespere there is help outside in the case you need it. Since I was a child I allowed disrespect and I was also toxic. For a long time I let my inner child manage my life, now I know that was not her responsibility. I am doing the hard work so that she can live in peace and enjoy the life that she deserves. I have learned to be compassionate with myself thanks to the tools learned in my therapy. Today, simply by seeing this photo, I felt a deep love for my inner child , I hug her and I am whispering in her ear that everything is going to be okay, I free her from that dark room where I abandoned her for so long. I apologize for putting the great responsibility of my being in her little hands. This has been a challenging, hard and sometimes cruel process, but I am now in a better place to support her healing. If anyone can relate to this post, I want you to know that there is help available and that seeking therapy was the best decision I have ever made; It has helped me face my inner demons and gain self-awareness. I am slowly recognizing and addressing my unconscious patterns. I re-read my original “Big Why” statement from 11 months ago yesterday, ready to update it. And it brought back to me so viscerally how much I hated to see myself in a mirror. Whether it was avoiding the mirror in my bedroom before I was fully dressed or the mirrors at the gym, I hated what I saw. . Thinking about how many times you see your reflection and how many times you criticise yourself is sobering. This journey isn’t driven entirely by aesthetics. It’s much more about long term health and strength. But on a day to day basis, not fearing the mirror is life changing. Dinner with friends tonight gives me an opportunity to try out more of my new “going out” clothes. This time I’ve chosen a @sassandbide bodysuit with wide-legged pants from @asos Tall. I’m really impressed with the the length of the bodysuit which isn’t even a long fit. There’s plenty of length and I can even fit my thumb through the thumb hole. The pants are a 16Long and I had to take the hem up by 7.5cm because they were way too long. I’m wondering now if I could have got away with a regular fit because they’re also a tad too long in the rise. Anyway, I’ll know for next time. Any other tallgirls tired of having to order 7 things online, then return the ones you don’t like and wait for a refund? I have so much money in refund limbo at the moment. My favorite tree is slowing down. She feels quiet as she drops hundreds of black walnuts and leaves. She has worked hard all year as a home to birds, providing shade for the cottage and preparing her feast so the squirrels will have plenty to eat this Winter. She deserves a nap. 🍁🍂 I was searching Land Art on Pinterest the other day and saw this idea of creating a rose from leaves. The artist on Pinterest put his in an opening in the trunk of a tree. Having had a hectic work week, I decided this might be a fun way to get grounded for the weekend and give her a gift. 🍂🍁 I started by making the center and used two tiny clear hair bands to secure the first two layers. Once I had about an inch across and secured it, I put it on the ground and began to layer in other leaves around the center. Easy, fun and beautiful. 🍁🍂 Consider this beautiful commentary from Thich Nhat Hanh reflecting on a tree leaf: “I asked the leaf whether it was frightened because it was autumn and the other leaves were falling. The leaf told me, “No. During the whole spring and summer I was completely alive. I worked hard to help nourish the tree, and now much of me is in the tree. I am not limited by this form. My give ah Fks are on vacation! I've always wanted lighter hair, now I'm finally getting it naturally. This is what my hair looks like 2 years, no hair dye. When I used to do anything and everything to cover up my greys. From headbands, hats, hair dye, temporary root touch up, henna. Tried a few different remedies like dying my hair with coffee, from drinking herbal teas, taking pills that was said to reverse grey hair. Only made me stressed out more, and I just said NO MORE! Now, loving it and embracing it all. Grey hair, don't care! Aging gracefully is a beautiful journey.
