"Freeriding in the polar night is synonymous with going through one of life's challenges. Both plunge us into darkness; The absence of light, experiencing a trauma, injury or depression. Although all of our experiences are unique and personal, they often share similarities in the way that we overcome them. 'Through Darkness' is a short film following 5 professional snowboarders, their lives in the Arctic, and their individual experiences with darkness. I normally post a motivational quote but today I wanted to share about life and death. With so much loss in my life recently, it has been hard to manage, where do they go? Why does it happen? Will the pain and grief go away? Will they hear me if I talk to them sometimes? What will it be like for me when I go? In these dark moments, I stared and pondered on my newly sprouted tomato plant, next to it I have a dead tomato. I realised that with death, comes new life, like a new dawn after the darkness of night and although my questions may never be answered, at least I realised that there was always hope through times of darkness.
