Did you know that in addition to disability support, we also offer specialised care for older adults, including cooking, cleaning and gardening services? We want to utilise our platform to educate our followers about all kinds of disabilities, including conditions that can affect our older population. ——————————————————————— Understanding Parkinson’s Disease Parkinson’s disease is a neurological disorder that affects movement, causing symptoms like tremors, stiffness, and difficulty with balance and coordination. It’s progressive, meaning the symptoms worsen over time. Although Parkinson’s is more common in older adults, it can begin at any age. The cause of Parkinson’s involves the degeneration of nerve cells in the part of the brain that controls movement. This decrease leads to lower levels of dopamine, which is essential for coordinating movements. Unfortunately, while there is no cure yet, treatments include medications to increase dopamine, therapy, and sometimes surgery to manage symptoms and improve quality of life. Other avenues of treatment include physiotherapy and hydrotherapy. At HealSeal, we understand the challenges and complexities of Parkinson’s Disease. We want to provide the highest level of care and support to improve the lives of those affected 🤍 If you would like to find out more on how we can assist you, please contact ✉️: [email protected] Otherwise, please privately message us on social media 🩵 #AutismAwareness #Support #Inclusion #UnderstandingAutism #ndis #disability #disabilityawareness #care #australia #victoria #melbourne Feel free to email us at #ParkinsonsDisease #AgedCare #Support #UnderstandingParkinsons #hospital

🌗 The Four Phases of a Woman’s Cycle & Parkinson’s 🌗 . Did you know? 🤔 During EACH phase of a woman’s monthly cycle, her brain changes in size by 25%! This has a profound impact, especially on women with young-onset Parkinson’s, as we navigate the varying tides of our symptoms throughout the cycle. 🌊 . 📆 On days 1-3, 11-13, and 22-28, my journey gets tougher. My energy nosedives 📉, and my medication fades faster than usual, leaving me in a race against time to nourish my body without impacting the medication’s effectiveness. It’s a delicate balance, especially when cravings hit hard during PMS - a time when I’m naturally hungrier. 🍽️🚫 . Choosing to eat means forfeiting my medication’s benefits for 3-4 hours, often confining me to bed. 🛌 Without the meds working optimally, I face severe fatigue, apathy, ocular migraines, facial paralysis, dystonia in my feet, freezing movements, slurred speech, rapid hand tremors, and decreased cognition. 😔 . When the meds do work, dyskinesia becomes unbearable. The pain from my head twisting back and forth is so intense that I often choose to stop the meds altogether, preferring the pain of stillness over the chaos of uncontrollable movement. 💊➡️🌀 . I call these my ‘transition days’ 🔄, marking the shifts between my cycle’s phases. These are the days when hormone levels fluctuate wildly, directly affecting my Parkinson’s symptoms and how well my medications work. 📊 . Let’s raise awareness and support each other through these challenges. 💪💜 #ParkinsonsAwareness #WomensHealth #InfradianRhythm #TransitionDays #UnderstandingParkinsons #ChronicIllness #HormonalHealth #SelfCareJourney #FacePD

**LifeSpark Trivia** Parkinson's disease (PD) can affect speech in several ways. Many people with PD speak quietly and in one tone. Sometimes speech sounds breathy or hoarse. People with Parkinson's might slur words, mumble or trail off at the end of a sentence and have difficulty finding the right words. . #standuptoparkinsons #beatyourdisease #fightingparkinsons #learningandgrowing #learnyourpd #expandyourknowledge #understandingparkinsons #trivia #didyouknow #lifeisagift #lifespark #knowledgeispower #parkisonsdiseasesupport #parkinsonseducation #findthewords #struggling #diseasetrivia #strugglingwithdisease #effectsofparkinsons #strugglingwithspeech #diseasestruggles

**LifeSpark Trivia** Hyposmia is a decreased sense of smell. It occurs in ∼90% of early-stage cases of PD. Looking back, you may realize you were losing your sense of smell several years, or even decades, before you received a Parkinson’s diagnosis.              ---Parkinson’s Foundation . #trivia #didyouknow #parkisonsdiseasesupport #parkinsonseducation #informative #dontwalkalone #educateyourself #plan4pd #parkinsonsawareness #parkinsonsdisease #awareness #diseasetrivia #lifespark #knowledgeispower #diseaseknowledge #knowyourdisease #understandingparkinsons #learningandgrowing #learnaboutparkinsons #expandyourknowledge #wellnesscenter

Friday Facts...What causes Parkinson disease? . For reasons that we don’t yet understand, the cells that produce dopamine begin to not function properly. They don’t make enough dopamine for movements to happen the way they did when there was enough dopamine in the system. While a small (less than 5%) portion of Parkinson's diagnosis are genetic, overall to date no one knows exactly how or why Parkinson disease starts. . Many researchers are trying to find the answers; and as it stands it looks as if aging, things in the environment (toxins or poisons) and abnormalities in some genes may trigger the changes in the body that lead to Parkinson disease. Research is the key to a better and brighter future in Parkinson disease. In a society where people are living longer and longer the Cologne Cluster of Excellence CECAD at the University of Cologne explores the causes of aging processes and aging-associated disorders. ⠀ More than 400 international scientists from the University of Cologne, the University Hospital Cologne, the Max Planck Institutes for Metabolism Research and Biology of Ageing and the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) are forming a highly dynamic research network. Their vision is to unravel the molecular mechanisms of aging and define new therapeutic approaches for the entire spectrum of aging-associated diseases as for example Alzheimer‘s and Parkinson‘s.⠀ ⠀ In einer immer älter werdenden Gesellschaft erforscht der Exzellenzcluster CECAD an der Universität zu Köln die Hintergründe des Alterungsprozesses und alternsassoziierter Erkrankungen.
