Domenic (2nd place) was then surprised by Tony and his family with his very own adaptive bike! Tony read Domenic's story on Facebook and it touched him and he knew he had to do something to help Domenic's mobility dreams come true. It was amazing! To add to the excitement @aldiusa read Grace's story (3rd place) and really connected to her and everything she has been through and they purchased her adaptive bike! We are so excited to announce we have 3 different ride options for 2021. 1) In-Person Ride We will be monitoring COVID and follow all CDC guidelines 2) Virtual Ride For those not comfortable with an in-person event or those out of state 3) The CHALLENGE Back by popular demand! It was the finale to Everybody Rides #VirtualEdition Presented by @aldiusa, the last BrewRide thanks to D and G Brewing and our Adaptive Bike Giveaway Presentation thanks to @freedomconcepts In case you didn't hear the great news we were able to give all 7 of the children in our contest their very own adaptive bike! 🎉This has NEVER happened before. We always make it our goal to give everyone an adaptive bike but this usually takes us at least 6 months! We achieved this huge milestone before the event concluded! We are so honored to have given the great news to all the children, their families and riders who attended. 🎉 Yesterday was a fun day at The Bike Rack with WGN TV visiting us to do a story about Project Mobility! 🎥 We have noticed since COVID-19 (especially at The Bike Rack!) that families are out more than ever riding bikes together. What about the families that have children with disabilities? Unfortunately, something many of us think is a normal daily activity is a luxury to those with disabilities. Many of these children have not been able to join their family, friends or neighbors on a bike ride. The story will show that they can join, but with an adaptive bicycle! We had Dayna from our Adaptive Bike Giveaway 2020 and her family come in to be interviewed and take some great action shots of her riding the adaptive bike that we are currently raising money to give to her and the remaining children in the contest. 🎉 Adaptive Bike Giveaway Update! 🚲 We are so excited we were able to give Nick from our Adaptive Bike Giveaway his very own bike this past Saturday morning at The Bike Rack! The original plan was to surprise Nick at his school last week but with the kids being out of school we had to move to plan B. Plus we really wanted to get him his adaptive bike since the weather is getting nicer and riding a bike is a great activity right now! No need to worry, we practiced social distancing and kept everyone safe! It was so wonderful to hear Nicks’ grandma say “oh I could just cry seeing him pedal for the very first time”. Remember that all your donations are not only changing the life of the individual receiving the bike but all the family and friends involved in that person’s life. The goal at our fundraising events is to be able to present a child, adult and/or wounded soldier with disabilities with their very own adaptive bicycle. 🎉We are proud to announce that TOMMY was the final surprise of Project Mobility's Holiday Adaptive Bike Giveaway. 🎉 It was so much fun pulling this one off, Project Dance is a Dance Marathon put on by Team Polaris at St. Charles North High School. With the help of a lot of people we were able to bring the bike into the dance without Tommy and his family noticing we were there. We got up on stage and Tommy's therapist, Shona Fowler, was the one to announce for him to come up and get his bike. It was so exciting to see how happy Tommy was to be able to get back on a bike again, one that fit him perfectly. How we first met Tommy… It was 8 years ago at Charlestown Mall when we surprised him with an adaptive bike and his twin sister, Emily, with a Trek Bicycle on their 7th Birthday. After 8 years Tommy outgrew his adaptive bike.
