Once I open up, I’ll seek out your attention and show off my purrs and muffin-making skills. 🥰 I’ll even sleep on the bed with you at night. I get along well with other kitties. I know some folks are probably wondering why I haven’t been adopted yet. I have Manx Syndrome. 😢 Some cats with Manx Syndrome lose mobility but thankfully I have full mobility and get around just fine. I can run, jump, play, and groom myself. However, in my case, I don’t always use the litter box consistently and I also experience constipation. My foster human has discovered how to better manage this and is happy to explain to you what she’s done. There’s definitely a way to keep things neat and tidy, it just requires a little extra effort. (We covered gas money &!road trip snack money for the driver and her kiddo co pilots.)😺😺😺 The kiddos named Mama Oreo, and we are still awaiting the official names & genders of these 5 healthy babes from our dear foster family! 😻😻😻 Mama and Babies will be ready for pre-adoption very soon! Felix came to our shelter after being hit by a car and left for dead in the street. He was brought to the nearest vet hospital- a mangled mess of broken bones and road rash and he was in shock. Once stabilized, we learned that one of Felix’s back legs was badly broken. At the advice of the veterinarian, Felix’s leg was amputated to save his life. Within a few days, we sadly learned that Felix’s road rash damaged front leg (on the same side of his body) was completely paralyzed. Felix has been evaluated by multiple veterinarians- two orthopedic surgeons, an anesthesiologist who specializes in sports medicine and physical rehabilitation, and two general practitioners. We have even contacted three different companies that make prostheses for animals- all of which told us that cats in general are not candidates for protheses or carts. Felix has spent the last seven months in foster care learning how to get around with his “special set of legs.” He cannot climb high, but he can get into low level cat trees. Felix uses a lower profile litter box without issue. He eats like a champ and is a champion lap sitter. Felix LOVES other kitties- especially one who will snuggle with him. Felix is looking for a special home. No small kids (simply because he cannot be tripped over). Older kids would be great. NO DOGS. Felix does NOT like dogs. Felix needs a home without stairs. He cannot land on his feet if he falls. And lastly, Felix needs a home where he will have a feline companion. He does not like being a solo cat. He is 100% perfect in all ways that count. We just have to update you on this 🥰 After a bad start in life, these two Desert Tavern street kittens have really fallen into the butter pot 😺. Elfie is a special needs kitty due to a developmental condition called cerebellar hypoplasia. This means that she is a wobbly walker and because she’s on the moderate to severe side she needs to be held up to eat and uses pee pads instead of a litter box. Despite her condition, she’s still a typically playful kitten with tons of love to give. While she’s come a long way and can now (wobbly) run across a room, she still falls down sometimes. But nothing can keep little Elfie down for long, because she just dusts herself and tries again.
