🐾 Howdy! My name is Milano. I’ve been with the rescue since December 2020. I had three siblings who were rescued (we were living under a shed), but I ran away. Six months later people found me. I had a broken leg and had to wear a cast for a while, but now I’m all healed up. My foster mom doesn’t understand why I haven’t been adopted yet! I get along great with my older foster dog brother, my little dog sister, puppies, kittens, and everything in between! It’s a zoo over here! At first glance, people think my fur is dirty, but it's just my unique coat! I guess you could call it cream with a hint of salt and pepper coloring. I think it makes me look distinguished. I have some husky in me, which means I can be vocal. The more you talk to me the more I talk back! Purrs, grumbles, howls--I just want to be heard! 🐾 Hello there, I am Xena Xulu. I was living in a Hilton Head shelter before moving in with a foster family last May. Life has been pretty good since then. I’ve gone on a fun road trip to St. Louis and got to meet my foster’s grandkids. Even though I prefer older kids, these young grandkids were really nice and we got along great! One of my favorite activities is snuggling and napping with my humans. I also enjoy hiding treat bones in my crate and seeing how long I can wait before gnawing them (so far my record is nine days). I also like sitting at the window and watching people walk by. Oh, how I wish I had a fenced yard to play in. Why am I an underdog? I don’t care for cats or other dogs, so I need to be an only pet. Also, I have some separation anxiety and take medicine to help with that. I think these things might get better with training, exercise, and enrichment (that’s the fancy term for brain games like Kongs and puzzles). My foster humans are about to take a month-long vacation and can’t bring me, so I need somewhere to be the only pet while they’re gone. It’s hard to find a place for an only pet, but I’m extra lovable to make up for it. 🐾 I am Cybil, and I am fabulous. I’m great with all people, including babies and kids. I am not destructive at all and can behave when left alone while you are at work. So what’s wrong with me? I simply dislike other dogs. If that makes me a diva, then I’m a diva! But really, I have good reasons to not trust other dogs: One attacked me when I was still stuck in an animal shelter. It was very traumatic, so I am not going to let my guard down ever again. While I am affectionate toward humans, it is best to keep other dogs at bay. Cats are probably ok, however. When I’ve seen them on walks, we’ve passed each other without issues. All I really want is a nice fenced yard and humans to give me all the attention. 🐾 Hola! Pablo Pete here. I am back in Savannah after briefly relocating to Delaware. I went up there to a shelter because, get this, shelters up north actually RUN OUT OF DOGS! Whaaat? I know...crazy to think when they are overflowing down south. Anywho, I got transported up there and watched all the other dogs get adopted. I sat in that shelter for three months before they sent me back here. Dogs can go loco if they’re in a shelter too long, so at least now I’m in a foster home. I’m a happy-go-lucky guy, but people tell me I need to learn some manners. I play a little rough and want to be the alpha. There are a lot of dogs where I’m at, so I need to compete! I get along fine with dogs who respect that I’m the boss. Those dogs who try to be dominant are the ones I butt heads with. My favorite dream dog-friend is one who is my size or bigger, and enjoys having Wrestlemania matches with me. Oh, and cats? Forget about it. Okay, now I know this sounds funny, but even though I seem tough, I am scared of new things and people. I guess you could say I’m insecure. I don’t trust men right away, but I sure do warm up to ladies pretty fast. I love it when people talk to me like I’m a baby. I have a little hobby: I collect my toys and bury them in my crate. I never went in the house, or left the yard, or met any other dogs, so I was pretty freaked out by everything when I left that place! There’s still so much in the world that is strange and overwhelming to me, but the only way to get over that is to get out there and see it. I just need a slow and steady introduction to things! 🐾 Hi, I’m Aspen. I used to live with a chill older couple in a condo and life was pretty great. Things became hectic, though, when their kids, grandkids, and three dogs moved in with us. There was always so much noise and activity and I could not deal with the chaos any longer. I’ve been staying with a very nice foster lady and her two older dogs. These dogs pretty much lay around all day, which is why I get along so well with them. I enjoy the company of dogs I know, but can get quite reactive on-leash when I see any unfamiliar furry faces. Don’t get me wrong, I love exploring the great outdoors, but my walk-time is ME time. I do not react well to seeing strange dogs I don’t know during my peaceful walkies. In my current home, there is also a cat. I keep trying to say hi, but it doesn’t seem interested in my friendship. 🐾 I am Dover. It’s so nice to meet you! First off, I am a really good guy. I know you may be thinking, “Why hasn’t he been adopted after all this time?” All of my siblings got adopted, but not me. Well, I think it’s because of my allergies. People get scared off when they find out I need special food and have to get allergy shots every month or two. I’m the one who has to suffer through the allergies, cut me some slack! I think another reason I am still a foster is that I have some trust issues. I’m usually on alert so it’s hard to let my guard down. Crowds overwhelm me and it takes me a while to warm up to people, especially women. And sorry, but I am not a fan of kids–they are just too unpredictable. Once I feel comfortable with someone, lookout! I can be pretty amazing. I obey commands, walk really well on a leash, and go in my crate like a good boy. I protect my fosters’ home and let them know if I hear a strange noise outside. Once I know they’ve got my back, I am all-in with my people. I’d like to play with cats if they’d let me. I get along okay with this old dog that lives here, but sometimes I wanna show him I wear the pants in the house. Apparently, it’s not okay for me to do that to a senior citizen. My foster sister can be pretty mean to me–if I play too hard with her she’ll knock my block off! Even though I can get rambunctious, I really am a good boy. Plus, I’m adorable and always smiling! 🐾 What’s up! I’m Carmen Sandiego. First off, I’m outgoing. People are pretty awesome and I’m not afraid to let them know that. If they want to cradle me like a little baby that is fine by me! I get super excited by a lot of things, actually. Because of my energetic personality, I probably wouldn’t be the best choice for young kids. My crate is an awesome place to be. I know some dogs act like it's a prison, but I love hanging out in mine. Walks are another fantastic thing. My biggest issue is that I get grouchy if I catch sight of other dogs during MY walks. It’s weird, because I once lived with a puppy and had a great time pretending it was my baby, I might not mind being a big sister again. I sometimes get along with this one neighbor dog, but that took a few slow introduction meetings before I could decide they were cool. I just don’t want to deal with most dogs. Same thing with cats, those weirdos. I’m living in an apartment complex with lots of other dogs (including ones who are off leash, which is super obnoxious)-it’s stressful to always be on high alert for random dogs to appear. Even though I can be a bit of a brat toward other dogs and cats, I absolutely love to cuddle with my humans. Sadly, my current foster mom is moving, so I need a new home, stat! 🐾 They call me Brandy. I was a teen mom who somehow ended up in a house with four male cats and three young kids. The kids are really sweet and I love them, but they confuse me. They make a bunch of noise and I can’t tell if they are squealing with laughter, or if they are in danger and need me to rescue them. It’s probably best if I stick with teenagers (like they’re any quieter) or adults. I’ve been told that at 80-lbs I can be a lot to handle, but I know for a fact that I walk very well on an Easy Walk Harness. Sure, if another dog gets too close, I may growl, but why do these dogs need to get all up in my personal space? If I get to know a dog slowly, and decide that I like them, maybe we can sit together. No promises though. I have a lot of fun with my cat roommates. I’ll chase three of them around the house while the fourth cat just cheers me on. Yeah, we’re strange, but we have a great time (well...at least two of us do). Overall, I am ready to leave my wild teenage years behind me and live the easy life; I go in my crate like a good girl, behave at my foster human’s office, act like a lap dog, and relax in the yard. Wobbly and groggy and spayed! That means they are officially available for adoption! Well two of the three are. Even in their confused state their true colors are still intact.
