North American River Otter ⋙ This was by far the best otter encounter I’ve had, and the highlight of our recent Algonquin Park visit! This curious cutie was watching us from the muddy water, following the canoe for a while before swimming off ahead. Just as we thought he had disappeared, he climbed up onto this abandoned beaver lodge to get a closer look at us. He let us paddle right up to him to take a few photos, seemingly just as excited to see us as we were to see him! Started the day a little foggy, dropped off my paddle for the art contest @algonquinoutfitters in Huntsville, got to see the Tom Thompson inspired canoe murals. "Change of Scenery" Compared to previous water taxi trips I've been on, sitting at the back bench offered a change of scenery, giving me a behind-the-scenes look of the 250 hp motor in action, a sheltered ride with the front passengers and driver blocking the brunt of the wind and providing a different perspective for photography, allowing me to capture more in this scene with our driver Eric on his approach to the Happy Isle Lake portage.
