Who loves a good dramatic landscape 🙋♀️ Sometimes I forget that there are sections of the south that can still pack a punch in terms of drama and this location is one of them. Butser Hill has evidence of occupation right back in the Bronze and Iron ages with archeological evidence of ancient farming and barrows. Often the bridesmaid to other hills - it’s not the highest point in the South Downs national park (Blackdown) or the highest point in Hampshire (Pilot Hill - though this cheats as part of it is in Berkshire) but it is the highest point on the South Downs Way . It is also a Hampshire’s only Marilyn. I always used to be quite scathing of Butser because it sits right next to the A3 so I assumed it wasn’t so peaceful but if you search out the right points you get wonderful views across the landscape in complete peace (watch out for the cows mid you). And I even heard a cuckoo when I was there at the weekend. THOR’S CAVE / 10 mile circular Just got back from a mini stay in the Peak District where I did this circular walk including the incredible Thor’s Cave! We parked in Wetton, bagging the last car park space at about 9:45am and then headed off in the direction of Thor’s Cave. Thor’s Cave is actually really close to Wetton, so this circular loop was a nice way to make a day out of it. The Wolfscote Dale section was very picturesque too! Fantastic day with the team hiking Mynydd Mawr! Online clients and members of @crossfitwidnes Weather was forecast for snow this afternoon and a cold day, but miracles happen and we could have asked for better conditions! Cool breeze, hot sun and clear views! Its a mountain I haven’t personally been up before, but I’m working hard this year to find and guide in some hidden gems! There are so many amazing spots if you do your research and want to avoid the crowds of the popular summits! At only 698m views did not disappoint! Epic day out doing the Snowdon horseshoe scramble via Crib Goch and three other peaks!!
