Sneak peak 👀 This is for an arts competition upcoming in the next couple of months. I am saving the big reveal until it is accepted into the exhibition - anything could happen so it might not be accepted. Who knows. The art world is so interesting…intimidating…scary…fun. If you watch my stories you would have seen the full painting at some point - lucky you. A lot of thought and practice went into this piece but you wouldn’t think so when you see those rough-as-guts brush marks and scratchy lines. I didn’t want to paint it perfect - I’m not a realism painter. I’ve tried it (sort of) and it’s not for me. I prefer to paint how I see and what I feel. I also do not have the patience required to sit for hours on a single petal. Art opens our eyes - March 18 🩵 Our sense of what to look for in a landscape, a figure, an item, or a scene can be enriched through visual art. We may overlook certain places or people because nothing has ever promoted us to conceive them as worthy of appreciation, or because a stray association has turned us against them. Our relationship with sunflowers can be improved by being directed towards their power of cleaning the contaminants of the world and their movements with the largest star in the sky. New assocatoons can be created around wheat once we are directed to the pathos of this fragile crop as its stalks bend their heads in the wind. We can begin to appreciate the colors of the sky once we are told why these shades mean something. And perhaps the most effective way in which our sense of what to look for can be enriched is through visual art. We could conceive art as subtle instruments for telling us what amounts in effect to look at the sky, to redraw your notion of wheat, to do justice to sunflowers. From amidst the million things in, for example, a wheat field, a successful piece of art will draw out the features capable of exciting a sense of beauty and interest in the spectator. It will foreground elements ordinarily lost in the mass data, it will stabilize them, and once we are acquainted with them, prompt us inpercetibly to find them in the world about us - or if we have already found them, lend us confidence to give them weight in our lives. We will be like a person around whom a word has been mentioned on many occasions, but who only begins to hear it once he has learnt its meanin

Caravaggio. The Supper at Emmaus. 1601. National Gallery (London). “The Supper at Emmaus” depicts the gospel account of the resurrected Jesus appearing to two of his disciples who do not, at first, recognize him. He goes to dine with them, and upon blessing and breaking the bread, they at last see him for who he is. The story of Emmaus is indicative of the Catholic mass. Jesus begins by reciting Old Testament scriptures to the disciples, next explaining how these writings were fulfilled by Jesus (himself), which denotes how mass starts with scripture readings, followed by a homily. But the disciples don’t recognize him until he blesses and breaks the bread: the consecration of the Holy Eucharist, when Jesus becomes fully present in the mass. Hence why the disciples do not recognize that Jesus himself in is their presence until this point. Caravaggio has invited us, viewers of his “The Supper at Emmaus” into this high point of the story, by placing an empty space for us at the table across from Jesus. He has placed a basket of food hanging off the edge of the table to give the pairing a four-dimensional effect to further draw us in. I thought to open it and tearing a page to use it as a collage in one of my paintings, giving a title to the work “ Attimi di Altissimo Splendore ” Sometimes in life we do the same thing when we believe we know a person’s life story. We read the title of the cover, we leaf through a few pages, we tear on of them, and we use it for our necessities, we close the book without reading the rest .. we put it back on the shelf to don’t take it back again. There are people instead, who will find the same book.. They will open it and read it all. They will find out that a page has been torn out and they will wonder where she is .. after finishing reading the book they will close it .. put it back on the shelf, but it is not enough for them, they will come back and reopen it .. but the missing page is not there. A strange channeling occurred during the art process of American born Anetie Bilroy of Southern France.
