Almost forgot to post this. We had lunch on Thursday at Chef Art Smith’s Sunshine Diner in the Orlando International Airport. We’ve eaten at Art Smith’s Homecomin’ in Disney Springs we figured the food would have to be good. And it was. I had the Country Fried Steak with Smashed Potatoes covered in Sawmill Gravy & Roasted Carrots. Steak & mashed were excellent. The carrots were good, I tend to like mine a little softer and crispier. Rhea had the Cuban Sandwich which she loved. Ham, Mojo Pork, Swiss Cheese, Pickles, Mustard on Cuban Bread. As airport food goes this is one of the best we’ve had and they don’t rob you- like Brooklyn Diner does. Ridiculous prices at that one. Our waiter was really good too, place was spotless. Eng ↓ | Даже после такого большого перерыва в изготовлении драккаров-вешалок я до сих пор устала от них 😸 этот дался тяжко, хоть и старалась внести изменения по душе... Зато вот попробовала добавить цвета к монохрому, получилось интересно. Саму "лодку" на сей раз вырезала из уголка, расковав хвост. Парус тоже отличается - нашла на свалке какую-то древнюю заготовку Джона из полос, слегла оформив её, получила как бы складки ткани. Котики вот прежние, только уши сделаны при помощи большого сверла. А щиты на этот раз крепятся через фальшзаклёпки к основанию. В общем, хватило одного раза вспомнить, как сильно мне эти драккары надоели, так шо лучше буду придумывать и делать что-то другое х) 🔥 Eng Even after such a big break in making drakkar hangers, I'm still tired of them 😸 This one was hard, although I tried to make changes to my heart's content.... But here I tried to add color to the monochrome, it turned out interesting. This time I cut the "boat" from an angle, forged the tail. The sail is also different - I found some ancient billet John from strips in the dump, shaped it, got as if folds of fabric. The cats are the same, only the ears are made with a big drill. And this time the shields are attached to the base through false rivets. In general, it was enough once to remember how much I'm bored with these drakkars, so I'd better think up and do something else x)

Round and round. L O O K I E!! I’ve been hoarding these rounds for years. I don’t see turquoise like these very often so I had to take my time. I’ve been staring at that big kahuna for 6 years. The thing about metals and rocks is sometimes, if you’re lucky, you can do a ‘creative reimagining’ to try to save an error, but as a full fire Aries, when I make mistakes they are usually of the ‘hello square one, nice to see you again’ kind of errors. This fam has the proudness of growing and learning. All of these rounds characters had to, and finally, got to be made together. The time was right 👯♀️

Don't think I've done a tong post for a while now, but being stuck at college for 2 weeks every couple of months is a perfect excuse to slowly tool up over time (and also practice lots of fire welding which I unfortunately have no footage of because I'm too busy, yknow, firewelding). So there ya go, a few new additions to the tool rack. 16/20 sq bolt jaws and a couple of bent scrollers for the rare occasion that I do any scrollwork. I suppose now's not a bad time to reflect on the idea that as smiths, we have the rare privilege of being able to manufacture a lot of our own tools. Of course a lot of us wouldn't be where we are without our heavy machinery and fancy toys, but ultimately I've rarely seen a jig, pair of tongs, or any other funny miscellaneous doodad that had a purpose, that wasn't handmade. No wonder that tool making is such a popular business: there's making stuff, and there's making stuff with stuff you've made. I can't visit Hereford and not see @legge.adrian Adrian taught me blacksmithing at Hereford college of technology in 1997 and 1998 and I think the world of him. I struggled through the second year with some mental health issues and Adrian was always there for me. I can’t stop staring at these necklaces created by my #firstgrade artists! Students took inspiration from the jewelry artist #arthurgeorgesmith #artsmith and used sketches to help with the brainstorming process. Scroll to see more! … Process: We used poster board for the backing and @crayola model magic to create the 3D elements. Once the model magic was dry I spray painted everything black. Students used watered down metallic acrylics, in either gold or silver, and lightly stamped the colors on with a small sponge. Wire, beads and polished stones/crystals were all found on Amazon. Just some silly little shelf brackets I designed about a month ago for a combo shelf/coat rack because I am in dire need of somewhere to put my ever increasing collection of knick knacks. This design was absolutely based around maximising the amount of fun I would have when making it. At least that was the intention. 2/3s of the bloody thing fought me all the way but boy do I sure love some nice, intentioned power hammer work with volume calculations to get the perfect forged bulges at the end of those flat bars. Ножи я делаю очень редко | English in the comments ↓ Последний был изготовлен года два назад. Забавно, ведь когда я пришла в ковку, ножи интересовали меня больше всего. Этот вот сделала в подарок. Сам нож не очень хорош, отковала из какой-то рандомной нержавейки, закалила максимально твёрдо, как смогла (несколько раз тренировалась на пробных образцах). Да ещё и клеймо поставила нормально только с 5го раза х) Но это не особо важно в данном случае, я считаю (подарок являлся скорее символом). Нож острый и рабочий, а ещё довольно мелкий. Сама я ощущаю, что он больше с женским характером, чем с мужским. Удобный инструмент для тривиальных задач. Впоследствии у обладателя стал ножом для писем, по моим наблюдениям 😸 Мне всегда хочется передать некую небрежность в своих работах, но в процессе я начинаю мучать изделие, выводя каждый изъян, от чего оно теряет ощущение лёгкости и техничности. Здесь мне нравится, что смогла оставить окончание рукояти в таком "свободном" стиле, структура рога это позволяет. Ещё, за время, что нож лежал перед фотосессией (где-то месяц), вы можете увидеть, что медь окислилась, и выглядит это интересно. Она всё также полированная, но теперь имеет цвета окисления: синий, фиолетовый. Со временем больстер почернеет, если его не касаться. Впервые сшила ножны сама. Мне хотелось сделать их именно складными из единого куска - на скандинавский манер, но со своим дизайном. Т.к. я не знала, как правильно кроить и шить, то делала, смотря обучающее видео на ютубе. Ещё я захотела поэкспериментировать, изготовив самодельные заклёпки из меди и нержавейки. Если бы кожа была пожёстче, то они смотрелись бы лучше, а так изгибаются вместе с ней. Ну, творчество - оно такое)
