You probably missed this because we did and so did almost every citizen. On 2/26/24, Billings had the opportunity to study the feasibility of converting the middle routes of Montana Avenue and 1st Avenue North from one-ways to two-ways. The funding was available ($102K) and that funding could only be used for studies like this. The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) was on board and part of the study when they normally tended to be against these conversations. The timing was right because MDT is currently in the design phase to do improvements on those streets in three years. The study may also determine that it is not feasibly so this study was not a guarantee but it couldn’t be pursued unless studied. If it doesn’t get done now, the next time we may be able to do that is in 30-40 years as that tends to be the timeline of MDT. Guess what Council voted to do? I had the incredible opportunity today to see a flyover by 2 KC-135 Stratotankers and 2 B-52s. They flew over Billings as part of #operationcentennialcontact to celebrate the 100 years of aerial refueling. This was the first time I've seen a B-52 flying (so much smoke!) It was amazing! They flew at about 7,700 ft so it was a little challenging to get close up shots but I'll have a few more to post this week.
