I was actually excited to read this one because its description sounded really interesting and the cover was SO cute! Besides, I was in the mood for a BL. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with this read. The characters had little to no personality, the chemistry between them wasn't palpable and the plot wasn't very interesting. Moreover, I didn't really like the way Arima's gender fluidity was portrayed. It seemed like his trauma was used to justify his identity, rather than expand upon it. On the other hand, it's a quick and easy read and the art style is absolutely gorgeous, so I don't mind the time I spent on this book. All in all, it's an alright read, good enough for the bus ride home, but I expected more from it... _______________________________________________________________________ Anybody else had a horrible April reading month? 😅 Because I did. Per il mese di maggio, la lettura pescata da Carlotta dalla mia pila della vergogna è stata 𝔹𝕠𝕪 𝕞𝕖𝕖𝕥𝕤 𝕄𝕒𝕣𝕚𝕒, e la prima cosa che ho pensato leggendolo è stata, “perché non l’ho letto prima?” Taiga è sempre stato attratto dai supereroi e di una cosa era certo, crescendo sarebbe diventato il supereroe di qualcuno. Un giorno, a scuola, vide la famosa Maria del club di teatro esibirsi e il suo cuore fu rapito dalla graziosa ragazza alla quale le dichiarò il suo amore, ricevendo però un’amara verità: Maria era un ragazzo. Un volume unico che mi ha tenuta incollata alle pagine fino alla fine. La vivacità di Taiga e la sua ingenuità che nascondono in realtà un passato tormentato e infelice, i suoi amici che lo appoggiano e lo seguono in tutte le sue decisioni, il passato di Arima (ovvero Maria), con le sue insicurezze, tutto è bilanciato alla perfezione. So che questa storia potrebbe non essere nelle corde di tutti per via di scene violente e argomenti abbastanza pesanti, ma allo stesso tempo consiglio vivamente la lettura a chiunque, perché è una storia che fa riflettere e allo stesso tempo fa sorgere diverse domande. Taiga è un personaggio che ho ammirato dall’inizio alla fine, il suo carattere forte ma allo stesso tempo fragile, la sua tenacia di rincorrere la persona che gli fa battere il cuore, nonostante non si aspettasse fosse un ragazzo. Arima invece, è stato il personaggio che più mi ha fatto riflettere, su quanto le persone possano plagiarne un’altra, fino a fargli perdere completamente la cognizione del suo vero 𝘪𝘰, di quanto possiamo essere egoisti fino ad annullare totalmente un’altra persona, eppure alla fine lui è stato forte è riuscito a capire quale fosse il suo posto pur essendo sé stesso. 🌸Boy Meets Maria🌸 "El amor tiene muchas formas" El ser humano se perturba cuando lo que le rodea no sigue lo dictaminado por la sociedad. Parece que nos ponemos en modo automático queriendo poner etiquetas a todo. El mundo no tiene que ser solo blanco y negro, hay muchos matices que lo componen y todos merecen ser vistos y respetados. Boy Meets Maria lucha con los esquemas de la sociedad dándonos muchos mensajes para reflexionar. Sinceramente amo este manga, pienso que es de esos obligatorios dentro de las estanterías de todo coleccionista. 🩷 Vale la pena ese viaje de emociones que te hace vivir. Confieso eso sí, que cierta parte del manga siempre me estruja el corazón. Hay lecturas que merecen más de un tomo y este es uno de esos. Lo más triste es saber que no será posible. Pero eso no quita que Peyo nos dejó la historia de Arima y Taiga como una joya atemporal. Como siempre, queda 100% recomendado. Lá ele acaba conhecendo Maria, uma das pessoas mais famosas e misteriosa do clube, onde se apaixona instantaneamente. "Superficial guys like you... Give flimsy performances... Even on stage." 📌 Taiga de início, tem um comportamento meio obcecado por Maria, pois um de seus motivos para se tornar ator, era o de poder proteger as mulheres como os super-heróis faziam. Mas essa obsessão logo acaba quando Taiga percebe que está sendo um completo egoísta. "I don’t want to feel like… I was born the wrong gender. Like I’m worthless." 📌 Ao decorrer da obra, Taiga descobre que Maria na verdade é Arima, um menino. Este post va a ser un poco diferente a lo habitual, y es que hoy me ha llegado un paquete desde Italia que me ha enviado @deku_kura con algunos extras de Here U are y otras dos obras que ha editado en Italia Star Comics, y no sabéis la ilusión que me ha hecho 💜💜 . . Como creo que muchos sabéis, no solamente sé catalán y castellano, sino que también entiendo inglés, francés e italiano; por ende consumo mucho manga en varios idiomas y compro en muchos mercados diferentes dependiendo de distintos factores. . Cuando Star Comics anunció el manhua "Here U are" siempre tuve claro que sería su edición la que compraría, porque el compromiso de la editorial y el cariño que trasmitían siempre que daban información (que era muchas veces cada varios meses), hizo que me decantara por la suya. . Así que podéis imaginar qué feliz me hace este detalle de tener el póster y marcapáginas que la editorial hizo cuando salió el primer volumen de Here U Are el año pasado para una convención (y dos pósters más) 💜💜 . "Boy Meets Maria" Este tomo único de Kemuri me trajo alguno que otros sentimientos al momento de su lectura. Tengo que admitir que este fue mi primer manga BL que adquirí y que me encantó no solo por su hermosa edición, sino que tambien por la historia en el que se centra. Y es que Taiga , es un un adolescente que desde chico sintió gran fanatismo por los héroes...y que gracias a eso, sueña con que una chica se convierta en su heroína. Pero es cuando empieza la secundaría en donde una joven que se viste como varón con un oscuro pasado entra en su vida. Y es en ese momento que descubrirá que la belleza que le gusta es enrelidad un chico. Boy Meets Maria By: Peyo *⚠️This is a very controversial manga. There is a plethora of trigger warnings. Be sure to check these out before you read this one. Many people feel that this has not been marketed in an accurate way. *TW: graphic on page SA of a minor, homophobia and transphobia/slurs, panic attacks/ptsd/trauma, parental death, child abuse, and more* I have mixed feelings about this story but appreciated what it was attempting to do. First, I think you have to consider that this was written in Japan, where the culture around this subject is very different. While I have no personal experience with gender dysphoria, I feel like almost everyone can relate to processing trauma in their life, and that is a big part of this story. Taiga dreams of becoming an actor, so he joins his high school drama club. There, he meets the beautiful, enigmatic Maria and immediately falls in love with her. Not long after, Taiga is told that she is actually a boy. Taiga unsure what to believe approaches Maria and discovers she is, in fact, a boy Arima. Arima is forceful in turning down Taiga. But Taiga is naive and still wants to pursue Arima, not understanding what their gender matters if he loves them. Taiga grows so much over the course of the story. Telling Arima they admire them, encouraging them to perform whatever parts they are comfortable in, and always going after them, trying to do the right thing in supporting them, is so sweet. I loved that he had supportive friends and wasn't discouraged when met with homophobia from his classmates. He's a really positive, fun character. Arima is a beautiful person trying to work through some awful shit that happened to them. Some readers felt like childhood trauma was used as an "excuse" for Arima's issues and confusion over their gender but I feel like their struggle is deeper than that. Though I don't think that is an excuse for the way they treat Taiga. I appreciated the little twist and loved the extra chapter at the end. I don't want to spoil anything, though. The art is beautiful, and I wonder what more the mangka would have done in BL had he not passed away. This is a tough read, but I really liked it.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

✍️ PEYO 📜 Fandogamia . Taiga es un chico que vive en su mundo de yupi y quiere convertirse en actor. Es en el club donde conoce y se enamora de María. Solo que no hay María que valga, si no Arima. Pero, como he dicho, Taiga es más feliz que una perdiz y mas simple que el mecanismo de un chupete, le da igual. Y está empecinado en salir con Arima/María/inserte juego de palabra. Al principio dudaba de que en un solo tomo quedase la historia cerrada. Y no solo ha conseguido eso, está bien hilada. Sin saltos extraños como ocurre a veces. Toca temas muy duros y muy delicados. Uno de ellos la identidad de género, como se puede comprobar así a simple vista. Abarca mucho en un solo tomo, que es bastante extenso a mí parecer. Eso hace que tengamos toda la información, ningún cabo suelto y no se ande por las ramas. E incluso veremos la evolución de los personajes sin que nos parezca extraño. De una manera realista. Los amigos de Taiga me encantan. No se habla de ellos pero son un buen punto de apoyo (o no, según se mire). Tambien aportan humor a la obra y de inflexión a nuestro prota. Además demuestran como rodeado por las personas adecuadas, uno puede crecer y como he dicho, apoyarse. La prima cosa che ho amato di questo volume è la sua sovraccoperta e penso che nessuno possa darmi torto quando dico che è davvero bella. Dai colori, ai disegni, all’atmosfera opaca che si percepisce guardandola. A pelle mi trasmetteva qualcosa, il solo guardarla mi dava la sensazione di qualcosa di bello, profondo, armonioso. Mi faceva promesse importanti. Non sono stata delusa. Boy meets Maria è un manga davvero profondo, affronta temi importanti, dall’accettazione allo stigma sociale, dalla capacità di affrontare i propri sentimenti alla forza che ci vuole per comprendere l’altro. Ho trovato una storia intima, toccante, ti senti ospite mentre Taiga e Arima si mostrano a te, quando Taiga si rivela nella sua ingenuità buffa mentre Arima si svela nella sua fragilità, dovuta anche a quell’ambiguità che sembra incuriosire tutti. Arima. Maria. La sua figura diversa che si modella in base alla diversa prospettiva, non solo di Taiga ma di chiunque. La narrazione di questo personaggio è di un’attualità affascinante, la loro storia è un esempio semplice di vita concreta: un incontro casuale generato da un fraintendimento, il pregiudizio semplice e puro che ne potrebbe scaturire ma che Taiga e Arima trasformano in qualcosa di più, una possibilità, una diversa angolazione da cui vedere il mondo. “Può darsi che io…mi sia comportato all’opposto… 𝙙𝙞 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙖𝙫𝙧𝙚𝙗𝙗𝙚 𝙛𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙤 𝙪𝙣 𝙚𝙧𝙤𝙚.” È stato amore a prima vista con questo volume e lo riconfermerei a ogni lettura. Taiga e il suo desiderio di essere un attore straordinario e di trovare una donna da amare e da proteggere. Arima che ha talento naturale da vendere e che cattura l’attenzione di Taiga stravolgendo quell’idea di donna che l’altro aveva sempre avuto. Una storia di amicizia, di possibilità, di guarigione anche e di amore. Qui ho trovato tutto e mi sono innamorata dei suoi personaggi, perfettamente imperfetti, capaci di dare un grande insegnamento sul rispetto dell’altro e delle proprie individualità. 5🌟

Tout d’abord gros triger warning avant de débuter cette lecture faites attention! Ce manga aborde un sujet horrible… Les dessins sont totalement le style que j’adore! Les characters designs et l’expressivité des personnages sont au top. Taiga au debut m’a fait peur, il est lourd et superficiel en premier lieu mais on se rend compte que c’est quelqu’un de sincère, avec un grand cœur et qui évolue. Son amour pour Arima dépasse les genres et est à l’épreuve de tout! Amira est un personnage pour lequel j’ai eu énormément d’empathie. Sa recherche identitaire et ses traumas sont abordés avec force et douceur. J’avais envie de me battre pour lui, qu’il soit protégé et qu’il protège aussi! Le duo que forme ces deux là est explosif et parfait! Ils se complètent et s’acceptent. Même s’ils ont des traumas qu’ils ne gèrent pas forcément de la bonne façon… J’ai également adoré les deux amis de Taiga, ils m’ont beaucoup fait rire, à essayer de retenir en vain leur pote qui fonce se mettre dans le pétrin. Ils l’acceptent malgré ses idioties. Pour conclure c’est une pépite!
