I’ve been a Dan Fogelberg fan since I first heard him as a kid in the early 80s. I learned of his early recordings at the Red Herring Coffee House long ago and watched for copies of his first solo recordings in the wild for years—with no luck. Recently I found the 1969 “Folk Music From The Red Herring” as well as the 1970 and 1971 versions online at a fair price and I had to have them! Through the years I get asked if I have a favorite song, and for 47 years it’s been the same answer: “Netherlands” by Dan Fogelberg…There is something so majestic about his beautiful lyrics and vocals rising above the timeless music written and orchestrated by Dan and conductor Dominic Frontiere, that captured me upon first hearing and has never faded. I am a visual person and Dan painted pictures so vividly when he describes his move to Colorado on this album and the beauty he discovered. He was also my favorite singer songwriter, who before his passing (way too young) created a body of work that has survived the test of time and reflects the dedication he maintained to the soul of an artist. This album his 4th, is best heard in its entirety as it was composed as a musical suite. 🐎2024 Rauch for the Roses🐎 This year, our Kentucky Derby was hosted (virtually) by my sweet DIL @rauch.haley. It was a photo finish and a win by a nose for Mystik Dan jockeyed virtually by @daverauch . Sierra Leone ridden by @rauchharry came in second with 2 riders on Forever Young, Jess and @the_north_porch. The purse is filled with the annual bet of $5 and a pack of hot dogs, so @daverauch will have plenty of food to rematch his wife, @rauch.haley, winner of the 2023 Event. 😂😂💙💖 Others in the Rauch for the Roses included @xinfuxinfu and @raucharchitecture. 先日、仕事の帰りにちょっと未来屋書店を覗いてみたら、なんと入り口付近で川口市の中古レコードショップ “Yellow Pop” がレコードとCDを並べてるじゃないですか！ ざっとレコードは邦楽、洋楽それぞれ300枚ぐらいだったかな。 ほかにレコード見てる人もいなかったのでのんびり眺めてたら、前から欲しかったダン・フォーゲルバーグの “The Innocent Age” が1,000円！ 基本白いジャケットなので、どうしても黄ばみや薄汚れた感じがするんだけど、わりと目立たないほうで、盤質のグレーディングは「A-」。 インサートもわりと綺麗な状態でついてるし、 誕生日でもあったので、ほかのアルバムと併せて3枚買ってしまいました。お代は2800円也(安！！) “The Innocent Age” は一昨年のクリスマス・イブにもポストしたんだけど、ダンの8枚目のアルバムでしかも2枚組の大作。 全曲がダンのオリジナルで、ドン・ヘンリー&グレン・フライのイーグルス組やバッファロー〜ポコのリッチー・フューレイ、元バーズのクリス・ヒルマン、ジョニ・ミッチェル、エミルー・ハリスなどがバッキング・ヴォーカルで参加している。 なかでもA面ラストの ‘Same Old Lang Syne’ が大好きで、これについては前回のポストで長々と書かせていただきました。 レコードはFull Moon/Epic のUSオリジナルで、マトリックスの枝番は1K/1K/1E/1E、4面ともSterling の刻印入り。 ちょっとチリプツは入るけど大満足です #DanFogelberg #TheInnocentAge #SameOldLangSyne #AuldLangSyne #懐かしき恋人の歌 #MFADanFogelberg #DonHenley #GlennFrey #RichieFuray #ChrisHillman #JoniMitchell #EmmylouHarris #FullMoonEpic #ダンフォーゲルバーグ #イノセントエイジ #MyFavoriteAlbums #vinylcollection #cdcollection #手にレコ #手に入れたレコード143

What a wonderful night celebrating the long spanning career of my dear friend “Putt” Norbert Putnam. Norbert is well known in the music buisiness. He is a successful musician, producer and multi studio owner. He was inducted into the musician Hall of Fame. Played with Elvis, sessions JJ Cale, Roy Orbison, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, etc… produced and brought to fame acts like Jimmy Buffet, Dan Fogelberg, Joan Baez, and many more. Just Google him!!!! I have always had a passion for music, and I truly believe that some people are brought into our lives for a purpose. I first met Putt almost thirty years ago when he was just beginning to write his book Music Lessons, and we instantly became friends. Listening to his stories was like being a child again, eagerly awaiting a bedtime tale. One day Putt generously gave me his old B15 Ampeg Bass amp, and at the time, I had no idea of its significance to his illustrious career. It wasn’t until a few years back, during a visit to his home in Florence, that he casually mentioned that the amp I had, he used on over 100 Elvis songs and so many sessions with many other artists. That’s the kind of friend Putt is - humble, generous, and incredibly talented. Dan Fogelberg - Souvenirs (1974 / 1975, Epic/CBS, Holland) #nowplaying #tryingittuesdays . Two years ago I posted Dan Fogelberg’s Nether Lands album on @myvinyladdiction45’s Trying It Tuesdays, and since I liked that album I got me another Dan Fogelberg album. Souvenirs is the singer-songwriter’s second release but in my book it’s not as good as Nether Lands (his fourth album), but maybe I’ll like it more after a few more spins. There’s a huge Crosby Stills Nash (& Young) and Eagles vibe here I think, but it’s definitely not as good as those two (or similar) acts. Produced by Joe Walsh, who also plays on 10 of the 11 tracks, there’s a few interesting guest appearances (mostly backing vocals) too, namely by Graham Nash (from CSN and CSNY) and Eagles members Don Henley, Randy Meisner and Glenn Frey. Must be nice to have famous friends who can help you out with your record. The LP was originally released in late 1974, but the Dutch/European pressing didn’t come out until a year later. Interestingly, the lacquer for my pressing was cut at CBS in Haarlem, Holland, at the same place where Record Industry is now located and still going strong with the pressing plant over there. They press all the Music On Vinyl reissues plus all sorts of releases by other labels. So, it’s safe to say that Holland plays an important role in the second coming of vinyl, which kicked off more than 10 years ago.
