What you see, the 4 newest adorable additions to the farm (Thorn, Bluey, Violet, and Chestnut). What I see, their protector. I am not really an animal person. That is Tyler and the kids, but this picture tugs at my mama heartstrings. Exactly a year ago this ram was orphaned with his brother. We bottle fed him in the barn in the snow. I was 8 month pregnant sitting on buckets trying to help. Shortly after we were in the NICU with the baby for weeks and our oldest son took over the baby lamb bottle feedings. He is obviously our favorite. He is not the Dad. We had to send Dad back to his farm shortly after breeding season and we were curious if any of our rams would step up. Blackie isn't the biggest ram, he doesn't have the biggest horns, he isn't even the oldest. But he stepped up and is protecting everyone. The rest of the sheep are even starting to follow him when he calls. The first night the babies were out in the pasture one got lost and couldn't figure out how to get past the fence to his mom. Blackie acted liked Lassie baaing at us and running to where to the lamb was until he knew the baby was safe. It was really unbelievable. I have a feeling that we will have many "farming fails" over here and Blackie will most certainly be our first. He will grow old on the farm with us, God willing. So I have a problem with oil bottles leaking. We have tried high end bottles claiming leak proof to the original bottles they come in. & for as much as I love the mason jar accessories that failed too. IT IS TO MUCH TO ASK FOR SOMETHING TO WORK!? 😭 HOWEVER, I believe we have found a winner...in the most unlikely of things. Takeya thermos!
