Little GiGi the tripod pocket beagle came to visit again and had a sleep over. Everyone gets on so well and are perfectly behaved at bedtime. Today, of course, I am also making a post about Oskar with some fun facts about him 🧡 - Oskar has been in the same foster home as Juliëtte 🏡 - Oskar’s name before we adopted him was Spider - He is 76 cm shoulder height, a real tall boy and weighs 30.6 kg 📏⚖️ - He was born on (it’s really an estimate with him) 1 August 2018 - We adopted Oskar on 24 August 2020 - Oskar was very anxious at the beginning of the adoption, afraid of everything and everyone 🥺 - He has a neurological disorder caused by ‘Carré disease’, this has affected his nervous system - Oskar is a real klutz due to his neurological condition, he has hardly any sense of balance and therefore sometimes falls out of the sofa 🙈 - He squints at both eyes, has very sensitive skin so he experiences pain much faster, he suffered a lot from a tilted head - Oskar was bought free by a shelter from the killing station, where he would be euthanised in a few days, the rescuers had immense compassion for him because he looked so bad 😭 - He could not even take 2 steps forward in Spain because he was very crooked due to his neurological condition 💔 Over the years, Oskar has really grown into a cuddly bear 🫂🧡 - He gets an acupuncture session and a healing session every month to work on his physical ailments and his emotional traumas - Oskar likes to do sprints in the garden every evening around the same time, especially now that it is light again for longer evenings 🌪️ - When Oskar is very happy and excited to see someone he likes again, he starts spinning around exuberantly 🤭 Would you like to know more about Oskar? Lange habe ich gebraucht, um überhaupt nur daran denken zu können, nach Mona’s Tod wieder einen Galgo bei mir aufzunehmen. Natürlich quälen einen Gedanken wie „ich verrate sie“ oder „habe ich sie wirklich geliebt, wenn ich ein halbes Jahr später wieder einen Galgo adoptiere“? Die Antwort musste erst reifen, aber sie lautet „JA“! Mona war mein Seelenhund, und auch heute vergeht kein Tag, an dem ich nicht um sie trauere. Wer niemals mit einem Galgo zusammengelebt hat, kann nicht verstehen, was einem fehlt, wenn er/sie nicht mehr da ist. Das Loch ist riesengroß, schwarz und tief. Deshalb heißt es jetzt „Willkommen Lina!“ Als ich sie am 28.04.24 – nachdem sie schon einen 20-stündigen Transport aus Spanien hinter sich hatte - aus Belgien nach Berlin geholt hatte, war Mona natürlich dabei. In dem silbernen Amulett, das ich seit ihrem Tod immer um meinen Hals trage. Besonders die Teams von @galgosdelsol und @all4dogsvzw haben mich in den letzten Wochen zutiefst beeindruckt. Was für tolle Menschen. Doch dazu später mehr. ❤️ Mona? Die werde ich für immer lieben ❤️ --- It took me a long time to even think about taking in a Galgo again after Mona's death. Of course, thoughts like “I’m betraying her” or “will I really love her if I adopt another Galgo six months later” are tormenting you? The answer had to be matured, but it is “YES”! Mona was my soul dog, and today not a day goes by that I don't mourn her. Anyone who has never lived with a Galgo cannot understand what is missing when they are no longer there. The hole is huge, black and deep. That's why it's now "Welcome Lina!" When I brought her from Belgium to Berlin on April 28, - after she had already been transported for 20 hours from Spain - Mona was of course there. In the silver amulet that I have always worn around my neck since her death. I have been particularly impressed by the @galgosdelsol and @all4dogsvzw teams over the last few weeks. What great people. Con la mente más tranquila, iré contestando vuestros mensajes… han sido unos días de incertidumbre.. el jueves no era capaz de ponerse en pie, no andaba, se caía… nos fuimos a dormir con el corazón encogido. Una vez más, no se de donde saca las fuerzas este guerrero (tal vez la cama que le dejó su Beli para que descansara en su casa le trajo energía 🥰) Lleva dos días caminando solo, comiendo mucho mejor, hace sus necesidades con esfuerzo pero con fuerza para seguir andando después, va mejor (dentro de su estado, que una maratón no va a hacer…) Parece que subimos de nuevo un poquito… ojalá más tiempo así campeón 🤞🏼 ¡Vamos mi valiente! Wow, thank you to all our new followers! Welcome to our Instagram page 👋🏻 Let me just introduce 1 by 1 our 2 beautiful furry children. And because we adopted Juliëtte first, we start with her of course! Because she conquered my heart and the love for the galgo was born 🧡 Juliette was born (according to her passport) on 20 September 2017. She was dumped on the street as a too-small galgo, found in a cardboard box. Our racing duckling came into my life on the 2nd of January in 2019. Full of life and energy, love, mischief, the biggest cuddler and her beautiful elegant self. A godsend 🥹 Some fun facts: - her first name was Daantje - she is 55 cm at the withers 📏 - she loves running immensely 🌪️ - she loves to cuddles 🫂 - Juliëtte loves French fries 🍟 - Juliëtte is a real pro at looking pitiful when you are eating and not sharing anything with her 🥺 - Juliëtte is a real drool when she is eating something tasty 🤤 - she sleeps with us in the room and loves to come and lie with us at night, between us 😴 - she is reactive on leash after being attacked and bitten several times 😩 - she is a real mama’s girl 🥰 - she loves taking long walks 🦮 - Juliëtte is a very obedient galgo who can run loose on walks 🙌🏻 - she is a real sun worshipper when the weather is nice outside 😎☀️ - she loves to fetch, but we limit this due to an old injury 🎾🥏 - Juliëtte used to be a very difficult eater, but since we have been giving fresh meat, greens and supplements she has become the easiest dog to make food for 🥩🫐🍓🍏🥦🥬 Every day I am grateful she came into my life and I hope we can enjoy her in our lives for a long time to come! 🧡 Would you like to know anything else about her? Lo preciosa que está Olivia cansadísima tumbada entre las hierbas con su collar del GPS de @collar4gps . 🤎 Como sabéis Olivia tiene que llevar arnés tipo chaleco antibalas 🤣 porque no soporta que le roce la correa en el lomo, al igual que no soporta que se le gire el arnés. Suri Suri was one of the very timid galgos that I met while visiting @sosgalgos in Barcelona. I sat down on the ground not looking at him while he paced back and forth and eventually settled cautiously but comfortably on his bed. These dogs have been through so much, abused, tortured, tossed away like some worn out or broken product. I don’t know how they ever learn to trust again. But they do when given the right understanding, space, time and caring that they need. Thank you to SOS Galgos and @anna.clements3 for saving these precious survivors and finding homes where they can be a part of a loving family and can thrive.
