Today is national adopt a shelter pet day and it only felt right to share some Penny pictures from over the last 5 months. Penny was formally gloria and was adopted from rspca NSW. She unfortunately had to have her leg amputated at a young age after being surrendered to their care, but that doesn’t stop her from living her best life. In the past five months she’s grown to be such a wonderful addition to our growing family. She absolutely adores her brother Darcy and he adores her just as much. I was surrendered to the shelter by my previous abusive terrible owner due to them not affording to fix my back broken leg and letting me suffer significantly you don’t want to know the pain.. the best option for me and my mobility was to amputate my leg. Billy update! Today Billy got his stitches removed! Hallelujah, we don’t have to watch him every second of the day! Hoping we can finally get some sleep. Doc said he is off restrictions and we just have to watch his front leg. He has a little swelling in it probably just due to his body adjusting to the weight shifting. I had a zoom meeting today upstairs and when I came downstairs I found him in this bed that usually the cats sleep in. He literally has no idea how big he is! 🤣🤣🤣. It was hard work, but we did it!🥳 Mom and I learned a lot about each other in the process: 1. Mom has a hard time finding time for consistent exercise, even when she makes it a priority 2. I still can’t walk very well or long if Mom doesn’t take the time to put my WIMBAs on (that’s what she calls my custom carpal braces) 3. Tiago - available for Adoption - Dobie and Little Paws Rescue - Special Needs (tripod/ rear leg amputation) Tiago was rescued by Dobie and Little Paws Rescue from a rural shelter. He had a compound fracture in his leg and it had to be amputated due to a bone infection along with nerve damage. He needs to build more muscle in his remaining back leg to support his tall and lanky body. Tiago is very good with other dogs, both male and female. It is recommended that he goes to a home with another dog because he is much happier when with other dog(s). Tiago is a young dog (about 1-2 years old), so sometimes he wants to play but his rescue is taking things slowly with him. Tiago needs a home with a yard because he will not potty on leash. This actually led him to become constipated during his stay at the veterinary hospital. He doesn’t need a lot of space though, just a yard. Tiago is crate trained and walks well on leash. He is neutered and up to date on vaccinations. After working in rescue and learning so many things from probably one of the wisest humans I’ve ever met and ever will meet (she knows who she is), I’ll always remember her advice in saying if there’s something not quite right with your animal, take it to the vet. Don’t ask Facebook. Don’t ask opinions of people unless they’re well versed in vet care and experienced. The best advice for an animal parent is to find a good vet! It’s been quite the journey for Millie over here and I was uneasy about finding the right, knowleadgable and caring vet team over here because I’d had the luxury of having what I believe to be one of the best vets in Australia ( @hamptonvetclinic Thanks Danny & Team! ) But thankful to say we’ve found another wonderful team here in Canada 🇨🇦 with @healthypawsfwd ! Thanks for being such a pleasure to see and helping our girl ❤️ Millie has a UTI that will be treated with antibiotics with the hope that’ll clear it up.
