𝗔𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗔𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗻𝗼𝘁𝘁𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁. Monday morning saw one of our team jump with with Nottingham Hunt Saboteurs to go and pay Snotts a visit at Kneeton. Although it was a lovely sunny day the wind was horrendous, Pretty ballsy of Robert to hunt in those conditions so close to the busy A46 but he's proven time and time again not to care about his animals. As the foot teams were with the hunt the others had a lovely conversation with a local land owner who was disgusted the hunt was on his land and was very vocal with them as he shooed them off, Just more proof that hunting is outdated and are not wanted. After watching them desperately try to find gaps or open / unlocked gates to leave the fields were in (did you really have permission to be there Robert?) they headed back to the meet and 'packed up' about 12.30, but being a suspicious lot, and having made the effort to come out and sab them we stuck around and sure enough about 30 minutes later Robert, Margaret, Couple of Masters, a whip and unfortunately a member of the next generation of hunters came back out of the meet and headed north along the side of the Trent. The terrain in this section of land was incredibly steep and treacherous in many places, funny place to lay a trail?🤔But despite that the hounds were cast through the dense woodland and caught the scent of a fox. Sabs worked quickly using Whips, Horns and Gizmo's to attempt to rate the hounds back and we are confident the fox got away. Robert, as per usual was a field away from his rating pack. As huntsmen go he really isn't very good and we don't think he's even trying now. After that brief attempt the hunt ambled it's way back to the meet and actually packed up this time. There is only about a month left of this season. In August 1958 several members of the League Against Cruel Sports put some fake trails in the area where a hunting drive was going to take place. They wanted to confuse the bloodhounds used by the group of staghunters from Devon and Somerset and therefore prevent the hunting. The Daily Telegraph reported about this action: «opponents of staghunting who have so far failed to stop the sport, are resorting to ‘sabotage’». It was the first hunt sabotage to be claimed in history. And more followed. During the next two hunting seasons this tactic was used and the members of the LACS, thanks to the propaganda obtained by this sort of actions, increased exponentially. The sabotages of militants acting on their own started to appear in the media. One of these people was Gwen Barter, the woman known back in those days for bringing a vehicle used by hunters to a halt. Months later she prevented also a fox hunting drive by blocking the exit of a lair with her own body. These actions, the renown they achieved, and the low activity of the LACS, inspired John Prestige, a young journalist from Brixham, to found the @hunt_saboteurs association in 1963. «We’re here to prevent people from hunting. The movement [the HSA] is financed by a small legacy of mine and the membership fees», he told the press. In the first days a hundred people enrolled and more than a thousand letters were received. The new tactics and the foundation of the HSA changed the history of the animal liberation movement forever and with them a new era marked by direct action started. In November 2016, I travelled to England, encouraged by the interest in understanding the origin and evolution of the movement and trying to vindicate its memory. Can't believe it's the 9th anniversary of Gilly’s death💔I am sharing what I wrote last year: For folks who didn’t know her, she was an absolute fierce anarchist and animal liberationist. Obviously it’s impossible to quantify as the animal liberation front is an anonymous, underground movement - but my bets are that she was one of the most active ALF organisers in history. Through the 80s and 90s and all the years before she became unwell, she would raid labs, farms and all sites of animal abuse freeing countless animals. 🔥 She actively sabotaged the badger cull and coordinated resistance to it in the original Krebs trials - so much so that it had a 95% failure rate. 🦡🦊She was an active hunt sab, involved in many grassroots campaigns, as well as prisoner support. You can see copies of the South East Liberator mag on the Talon Conspiracy archiving project website, which details some of the things she did - only to be shared after her death. She was a surrogate mum to me and taught me more about anarchism than any book ever could. She would text me every single time I had a prison visit without fail for years on end and supported me through my sentence. She’d been inside and knew what it was like. She was spiky and anti-social to many, but also caring, kind and loyal to those close to her. Men get celebrated as ALF heroes, while women like Gilly get invisibilised, especially if they develop chronic illnesses. I’ll never forget her and our movements shouldn’t either. Please remember Gilly today. Sometimes a post on socials isn't enough. You have to show up, and speak out. Boxing Day is one of the biggest hunting days in the UK. Across the country, hunts ride out with packs of hounds, louts on quad bikes, and thugs in 4x4s to hunt, and kill Foxes, Hares, Stags, and many other wild animals. It is illegal to do this, and has been since 2004 but a loophole in the law means that so-called "trail hunt," (which even by the hunt leaders is acknowledged to be a "smokescreen," for real hunting) can still happen. Fake trails are laid using Fox scent to make it seem legit, and then the hunts go out, and search for real animals to chase down, and tear apart. • It's well documented. Follow either the main @hunt_saboteurs account or any local sab account to see the clear video, and photo evidence. Follow @protectthewild__ Foxes were 100% chased, and killed over Christmas. One near Glasgow was even shot which can in no way be claimed to have been accidental as many hunts claim their kills to be. This is especially brazen considering Scotland now have even stricter hunting laws than England. • Every week, sabs are assaulted, run over with horses, their vehicles sabotaged, and destroyed, and their lives threatened whilst trying to protect wild animals from being killed. Hunters, and their supporters are nothing more than violent, (and often drunk) criminal gangs. We've witnessed first hand some of the worst language, and threats at protests, in front of police. Luckily nothing physical yet. • Above are some of the criminal allegations, and convictions against the Kimblewick Hunt. • Veganism isn't just a diet. It means standing up for ALL life. It means wanting a better world not just for farmed animals, but for wild animals too. If you can, get down to protests, support sab groups, and share news. So many people I know think hunting doesn't happen in this country. in fact, it's widespread, and actively supported by the royal family, and MPs who take part. It needs to end. Tuesday 1st January 2024 Onecote Grange Happy new year, no fear! Today we stopped by the Moorlands as we hadn't seen them for a while, didn't want them to miss us too much 😘 Ourselves and huntsman Jamie had to wait around for 2 hours, originally an 11am meet but everyone was hanging too much (we know the feeling) so they pushed it to 12pm instead. No whipper in though, Rupert must have gone too hard last night! They started off at Onecote Grange, with the biggest field and and support we've ever seen mustered up by the Moorlands (which is not a lot!). They continued to Waterhouse Ford before trotting around Bradnor. There was a lot of stopping and starting as the support watched on, bored beyond belief. Several roads were blocked as the hunt traipsed about. As usual, a lot of time was spent wasted by Jamie trying to keep his pack of hounds together. Tijdens de patrouille kregen de sabs een tip van een buurtbewoner over een actieve jachtpartij. Toen de sabs ter plaatse aankwamen, was de jachtpartij al ontbonden. ❌Ook een andere jachtpartij besloot net bij aankomst het doden te staken. Helaas waren er minstens twee slachtoffers gevallen 😔. De twee hazen bungelden levenloos in de handen van de jager. Op deze locatie werden ook een verdacht aantal mannelijke fazanten gespot op een relatief klein gebied, wat zou kunnen duiden op illegale uitzet. De sabs zijn van plan deze regio verder te observeren. 🗒Nadat de sabgroep ontbonden was en de individuele sabs naar huis reden, werden nog minstens 2 jachtpartijen gelokaliseerd. Deze locaties werden opgenomen in ons overzicht. 💚Animal Rights roept nogmaals op om jachtpartijen aan de organisatie door te geven. Met deze informatie kunnen wij onze acties effectiever uitvoeren. In de meeste velden heerste opmerkelijke stilte. 🐄De sabs hebben daarnaast goede beelden kunnen maken van tien tot vijftien kalfjes in zogenaamde kalverboxen, terwijl de volwassen koeien vijftig meter verderop in de wei stonden. Een triestig zicht. 💚Gelukkig was er ook een lichtpunt: ze merkten een mama ree (geit genaamd) met haar twee kitsen 🦌 op in het open veld. Deze dieren zijn veilig tot januari, want vanaf dan mag er ook op hen gejaagd worden. ❗️Hetgeen waarvoor Animal Rights pleit, blijft heel duidelijk: een onmiddellijk verbod op de totaal onnodige wreedheid van de jacht! Een triestig zicht. 💚Gelukkig was er ook een lichtpunt: ze merkten een mama ree (geit genaamd) met haar twee kitsen 🦌 op in het open veld. Deze dieren zijn veilig tot januari, want vanaf dan mag er ook op hen gejaagd worden. ❗️Hetgeen waarvoor Animal Rights pleit, blijft heel duidelijk: een onmiddellijk verbod op de totaal onnodige wreedheid van de jacht! We caught them hunting close to the road opposite the meet with the whipper-in on the road. As soon as sabs got near convicted criminal huntsman Will Goffe quickly took the hounds and left heading off at speed towards Lower Catesby. We caught back up with him hunting three fields of Elephant Grasses near Lower Catesby. Given how tall and dense the grasses are there is no way that Goffe could actually see what any of the hounds were hunting whilst they were in the elephant grasses and considering we have seen foxes running from the hounds here previously we can only assume this was Goffes reason for bringing the hounds here again. It would certainly be difficult for him to use the “trail hunting” smokescreen as he spent about an hour in these grasses with the hounds left to hunt on their own inside the grasses for the majority of that time. The cub hunting in the Elephant Grasses all took place on Tom Jeffries of Lower Farmhouse, Staverton and owner of Jeffries Farm Limited. Been enjoying the new issue of @hunt_saboteurs HOWL 🦊 Here we are again, that time of years where sabs and monitors across the country prepare with some already sabbing, to stop the disgusting hunts from killing wildlife. Fox hunts across Britian begin their cubbing season, they call 'Autumn Hunting', where they teach the young hounds to work and kill as a pack. They do this by hunting the young and more vulnerable fox cubs 🦊 As of tomorrow (12th August) the Grouse Shooting season begins, with thousands of birds destined to be shot in the name of 'sport'. And don't forget the natural predators being caught in snares and shot in order to protect their targets... This time of year I'd be ready to start sabbing again, however I may need to sit out one more season which is gutting, to get my health in a better state as I await a procedure (nothing to do with being vegan of course! 😂) in order to deliver my best. In the meantime, I'll do everything I can to help those who are out in the field, and to help wildlife. Support your local wildlife protectors, and grass on your local hunts 🐾✊
