Mein Name im #MDOT 🔴vom #ironmanaustria2021 für immer verewigt. Ich habe dieses T-Shirt so oft fotografiert und in Stories gepostet, wie noch nie ein Kleidungsstück zuvor. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Damit hat die Marke #ironman etwas geschafft, wie noch keine Brand zuvor. Sie haben mich wirklich eins werden lassen mit ihnen. Ich wurde im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes Teil von Ironman. Ich bin eine Markenbotschafterin, die sogar noch richtig viel 💰 Geld dafür bezahlt hat, das sagen zu dürfen. (Das ganze Merchandising inkl Haargummis möchte ich hier nicht unerwähnt lassen 💪🔥🤷♀️). Die Zielgruppe für den #Triathlonsport an sich ist schon sehr selektiv, aber Menschen, die 3,8km Schwimmen, 180km Radfahren und einen 42,2km Marathon (ohne Pause) durchziehen sind extra besonders. Besonders klar, besonders konsequent, besonders leidenschaftlich. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Ja. After a DNF at #ironmanaustria2021, I seriously contemplated whether or not I was gonna give it another go. All the reasons why not to were there: - I’m going travelling soon and it’ll be a task to add training in. - I hyped it up big and then didn’t bring it home. I felt #embarrassed. - Training takes over your life. - If I couldn’t do it this time, how can I with nearly another year of muscular dystrophy added? - I’m proud of the fact I got to the start line. I don’t need to prove a point. Funny how quickly that fear rationalises and grows. Which is why I booked the AirBNB before I left Austria, and #committed to going back before I could talk myself out of it whilst waiting for registration to open. Official photo dump. Still can’t quite believe it’s all over!! Huge thanks to @dynamic_fitness_coaching for making sure I had what it takes to get round, despite the run not being ideal, my legs felt strong right to the end and if they hadn’t I’d have been in a bad place! Now, the post-ironman blues are kicking in…. What do I do with myself now?! 😂 I have thrived on the structure of training for the last 18 months, a period which brought the both the best of times and the worst of times. I AM AN IRONMAN 🥳🥳 Hab jetzt ein paar Tage gebraucht um zu realisieren was am Sonntag passiert ist. Einerseits bin ich überglücklich dass ich meinen ersten Ironman ins Ziel gebracht hab. Andererseits bin ich natürlich schon ein wenig enttäuscht dass ab km 25 beim Laufen einfach gar nix mehr gegangen ist. Ich habe gewusst dass es hart wird, aber dass es mich bei meiner ersten Langdistanz so hart trifft das hab ich ehrlich gesagt nicht gedacht. Mein Körper fühlte sich einfach nur „kaputt“ an. Ich konnte mich nie wieder erholen. Und dann wurden die letzten 17 km sehr lang und schmerzhaft. Ohne meine Familie und meine Freunde die mich an der Strecke unterstützt haben, hätte ich das nie geschafft. @alfons_dornauer @teresa_egal @seewaldmarkus @hairstyle_ingridpertl 💜 MUM & DAD Ihr seid die Besten ♥️ Danke auch an alle die mir von zuhause aus die Daumen gedrückt haben 🙏 Jetzt brauch ich mal ein wenig Zeit für mich. 10.24!! 🏊🏼 🚴🏻 🏃🏻♂️ Postponed 3 times, it’s been a long time coming and I feel so privileged to finally be able to race again. @ironman_austria was beautiful. Wörthersee was like swimming in mineral water and the bike and run course was like a postcard wherever you looked. But it was brutal too as all Ironmans are. I’m so happy with my time! 10.24 and I was only just able to hold it together at the end. Thank you for all the kind messages. I to je to, nakon cca 600 sati trenina i 12 hiljada kilometara zadnjih 10 mjeseci sve to je doslo na naplatu. Bilo je uspona i padova, padova pogotovo pred sam kraj, ali sve je to sastavni dio ovog sporta. Sutra u 7:15 idem u ostvarivanje dugo ocekivanog sna, za koji se radi trenutne situacije preko 2 godine spremam, 3 puta se otkazalo ja sam nastavio kao da nije, i evo ga gdje sam tu sam. Race week! 🏊♂️🚴♂️🏃♂️🏆💪 I remember when I first started out on this journey, shortly after getting my #fshmusculardystrophy diagnosis. I couldn’t swim properly, hadn’t cycled in the gym for more than an hour and had no road bike, and had 1 awful marathon experience under my belt. I’ve now swam and run 100s of miles, and cycled 1000s. All leading up to this week. In that time, Muscular Dystrophy U.K. have been hit hard by the pandemic. People with different dystrophies and more advanced versions of mine will miss out of assistance with every day activities because of this. If you can spare a few quid to help them, great.
