What did I do during the week after the race? Does recovery simply mean doing nothing? No 😉 For me it‘s really important to keep the body moving from the first day on after the race. It‘s all about feeling better sooner and recover quicker. There is no intensity, the sessions are short and easy and especially with running I am extremely cautious (did only 2 short runs with body weight support this week). It‘s not about getting fitter during this week, but for me these sessions are as important as the preparation before the race. I always listen to my body and do the sessions like I feel. Often I have to combine the recovery sessions with travelling home. As we were travelling with our camper, it was easier and I tried to just jump into a pool somewhere or ride my bike for a few kilometres. Had another solid training session—this time, finally made outdoors with a speedy 100k and a short but sweet brick session right after. It was a blast pushing the pace, breaking through some of those mental barriers, and I rolled back feeling both happy and content. Thankfully, the weather was on our side, though I was all prepped for a hotter day. And, of course, rounded off the training with an amazing #parantha. Perfect way to end a training and a round of ice bath @thirdpoleclub feels so nice and refreshing Go out and do what you love and live the life you deserve. Finisher de la première édition de l’IronMan 70.3 de Valencia. Quel plaisir de prendre le départ de cet half depuis mon dernier triathlon en octobre 2022 ! Une organisation au top et une ambiance bien espagnole. Je suis satisfait de mon temps (5h49) même si ce n’est pas exceptionnel. L’objectif était de le finir entre 6h et 6h15 car la préparation a commencé début janvier. Un parcours natation tranquille dans le port. 5 entraînements en natation dont 4 la semaine de la course depuis janvier, je ne cherche pas le chrono. Je nage calmement et le plus efficient possible, ça se passe très bien. Pour le vélo, je respecte ce que je voulais faire. Ne pas forcer sur les 30 premiers kilomètres pour avoir du jus pour la partie montante (km30/km45). Tout se passe bien donc je me fais plaisir en envoyant plus de watts du km45 jusqu’au km85. Je ralentis sur les 5 derniers km qui me permettent de récupérer avant de me lancer sur le semi-marathon. Surtout un grand merci à @biken_repair d’avoir réparé et préparé mon vélo au dernier moment 😅. N’hésitez pas à le contacter si vous avez besoin de réparer ou régler votre vélo !! Je commence le semi avec de bonnes sensations et plus frais que je le pensais, je me cale sur le rythme (entre 5’ et 5’15 au km) d’un gars devant moi et je le suis jusqu’au km13, je n’arrive plus à le suivre et ralentis ma course. Je finis le semi avec un rythme autour de 5’40/km. Je passe la ligne d’arrivée d’une très belle course avec satisfaction. Maintenant place à la nouvelle et longue préparation. Définir les axes de travail, établir un calendrier de courses cohérent en intégrant le 1er 140.6 des Sables-d’Olonne. 🇿🇦❤️ Этот старт был долгожданный и одновременно спонтанный. Ожиданий особых не было. Единственное, что знала, что будет очень не легко. Старт известен тем, что условия не самые благоприятные для плавания. Последние годы плавательный этап либо отменяли, либо сильно сокращали. По приезду каждый день мониторила состояние океана. Вода была очень холодная, градусов 16, но особо не штормило. А за день до старта вообще был штиль. Переживали только за температуру воды. В день старта стало ясно, что ждёт очень не легкое и скорей всего долгое приключение. Очень сильный ветер, которым пугали на вело этапе, шторм в океане. Плавание не отменили. Установка была что нужно просто как-то проплыть, как-то вытерпеть эти 1,9км. С берега волны выглядели более менее норм. Но уже там, на месте, в воде, стало понятно насколько все серьезно. Штормило очень сильно. Плыть нормально не получалось. В голове крутилась одна мысль «Больше никогда…». До первого буя 300 метров, свернем, и должно быть полегче, но стало только хуже. Ото всюду был свист спасателей в лодках, кто-то держался за буи. «Вдруг отменят..» Но нет. Очередной плавательный этап для меня был на выживание 😁 По часам расстояние получилось 3,4км вместо 1,9км… на волнах - вверх-вниз, из стороны-в сторону 🌊🙃 Вело этап был практически без плоских участков. Все время вверх-вниз. Очень интересная и живописная трасса 🔥. Общий набор 770м. Качество асфальта оставляет желать лучшего. На спусках приходилось быть очень аккуратной, чтоб не снесло боковым ветром, скорость доходила до 50-60км/ч. Но последние 30-35км после разворота вдарил сильнейший встречный ветер. Скорость упала сильно, приуныли все, казалось, что это еще будет тянуться очень долго…. Бег в два круга с забеганием в два холма на каждом круге и с тем же сильным встречным ветром в одну сторону дался тоже не так легко, как хотелось бы. Поддержка по трассе была отменная!🙌🏻 В общем, это был лучший старт в жизни, колоссальные эмоции! Last weekend was pretty wild. Another World Champs slot and a whole lot of fun racing in possibly my toughest Ironman to date. Blimey there was a whole lot of wind. Slightly mixed feelings about the result. Despite a solid race, I can’t lie that I wanted a bit more. We put a lot into this race and for the first time in years I felt really ready to race and I don’t feel like I quite showed that on race day. I’ve had so much support for this race build with parents, in-laws, my life long friend and physio @clairerwheller and above all Rob believing in me always and beyond grateful for this little team of amazing people. Terrible day out there but is was worth it. By far not the result I hoped for but I’m thrilled and superproud that I managed not to give in to the voices that wanted me to quit literally after the swim when I was surprised by a real poor time after checking the watch at T1. Could not imagine to run a marathon today but I did and made it to survive somehow - if only quite slow. Whoa. That was really hard. 3rd place my age group and 14th female age group overall. Best I've done in an Ironman. Even PRd by a minute 😂. Absolutely brutal wind and heat. Crashed on the bike at mile 30 but decided I was ok enough and bike was ok to continue... so I did! Went to a lot of dark places to hang on until the end. Much more later, now food, beer, and sleep! Some impressions of my day at IRONMAN Texas. Overall an amazing event and I am already now pretty much certain I'll do the Oceanside 70.3 + IRONMAN Texas Combo again in 2025. Oceanside is great for getting my a** kicked and accelerate learning and Texas I feel is right down my alley in all fronts: Atmosphere, great course and you feel the love for the sport. After the swim I got home and passed out for a while but gut wise much better now - mentally it'll take a bit longer to recover. So happy for my friend @jamesemackinnon for his 1st IRONMAN finish today, a really strong all around day without a blow up despite the heat! Spent time walking and cheering on the run course, breathing in the atmosphere of our beloved sport. Also fascinating to see how the slower the finish times get vs. PRO's and fast AGers, the happier the athletes seem at the finish line. Definitely some food for thought for us, easy to get dragged in the performance rabbit hole and just feel joy through that alone. Got a bit sad looking at my beautiful, perfectly maintained bike in transition - did the best speeds & power with lowest effort in training after Oceanside of my life (fixed a technical issue on bike which cost me 50 watts or around 3-5kph at race pace) so I think I would have had a great day for me, whatever that meant in ranking is another story. Would have love to put down a full IRONMAN on paper just to see where I'm at at this stage, but it'll have to wait a bit longer! Tomorrow some planning for next weeks, the season and fine tuning! Thanks again for all the messages and support out there, also fun to see how many came up and said hi knowing me from my little Youtube channel. 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗠𝟳𝟬.𝟯 𝗟𝗶𝗺𝗮 🇵🇪 Puedes competir muchas veces en el mismo lugar pero siempre será distinto😎. Esta vez el mar 🏊♂️ estuvo muy agitado y con tumbos. A partir de ahí 🚴🏻♂️ traté de controlar sensaciones y seguir el #plannimrod : hidratación, cadencia y vatios. Luego🏃🏻♂️era mantener un pace estable y constante. Quizás se pudo apretar más (eso siempre se piensa cuando llegas fuerte a la meta 🏁) pero lo que se dió fue lo mejor💪 #youvsyou Fue una excelente preparación para el próximo objetivo! Ironman 70.3 Lapu-Lapu, Cebu - 21km RUN 🇵🇭🏃🏻 The run was hot and incredibly painful! again, I later learned I had a stress fracture in my foot from the swim exit, went bad during the bike course and just got worst during the start of my run. The first 3-5km were stressful as I couldn’t run any faster despite the pain. I’m not going to lie, I thought about giving up with every agonizing step. Seeing coach @ruby.the.triathlete at 5km shouting “Don’t stop! Don’t stop!” gave me a second wind. I realized I had come too far to give up now. Forget about Personal Bests, forget about the World Championship Qualification, I just had to finish. I remembered @ruby.the.triathlete telling me I had to believe to inspire, so I pushed through the pain. My amazing @nolimitscoachinghk teammates, battling their own challenges, still took the time to encourage me - their spirit inspired me to keep going. The heat was grueling but their cheers helped me dig deep to the finish. I couldn’t have done it without their support. A huge thanks to those who helped me to the medical tent afterwards. I truly appreciated the care after leaving it all out there.
