Just finished this beautiful 💔 book while being poorly in bed. It was one of the hardest books I have read recently. The story follows two parents who have lost their daughters on either side of the Israel-Palestine Conflict. They come together in their grief to be the most ardent advocators of peace. The prose itself is beautiful; multifaceted. It’s a metaphorical amalgamation of history, facts, imagination and much more. It accentuates the (in)humanities of a war. It tells the story of people behind the numbers we see in news; their dreams, aspirations, relationships, and their identity. It breaks your heart, yet fills you with hope. It’s easy for us to sit in our comfy, safe and secure houses and demand what might/ might not work in someone else’s world. Unless we have lived in their shoes, experienced the atrocities that they have encountered, we cannot begin to fathom the enormity of the situation. The least we could do is read and try to understand what is going on. Thank you to everyone who joined me last night for our #peacemeditation 🙏 We took time to honour what was present which was quite possibly far from a sense of peace & hold ourselves and each others hearts with kind, curious attention. Using the sanskrit word for peace 'shanti' we began to drop below the chatter of the thinking mind & connect with the deeper layers of ourselves including the upset, the grief the deep despair, allowing everything to be here. We then took ourselves back to a moment in time when there was a sense of peace inside ourselves & recalled the somatic imprint of this experience, savouring the positive feelings it elicited. We then began to send this frequency out from our hearts, into our auric/magnetic field (which was already happening) and then outwards to our immediate contacts, our community and then to those affected by conflict (inner and outer) with a prayer that their hearts be touched by the deep desire for peace, breaking down their defensiveness and melting all hatred. Its forever both, the honey and the sting. Just before getting on the flight from TLV back to NYC yesterday, this bus-stop poster caught my eye. These posters are not torn down in Israel - they are added on to, decorated, become relics. These familiar faces of two women, hostages - with added comments by people: Two Hebrew letters added to Vivian Silver’s name - standing for ‘May her memory be a blessing’. And two faded flowers taped to the poster, right below her smile. And next to Ruthie Munder’s name - a jubilant ‘she’s home’ With a heart. A little distraction from the hostilities we are currently witnessing. It was good to have celebrated my birthday with my nearest and dearest friends. It was a great way of detaching. At least for a day. I don’t know about you but showing compassion and humanity for the children of Gaza does not equate to being a terrorist lover. This is the narrative we are constantly bombarded with and we are expected to turn a blind eye to the injustices being committed. Anyone with an iota of humanity would feel for the plight of innocent civilians especially the children. I think it’s a form of gaslighting to make us feel as though we are akin to terrorism when it’s actually the opposite. I feel terrible everyday and it’s compounded by a feeling of powerlessness to stop the relentless killing of children. I’m not a Jewish hater. I believe there are many Jews who are on the side of humanity. Nor am I a sympathiser of the HAMAS cause. In the first photo my great- grandfather John (Jack) Carter, who fought in France during World War I when he was in the Machine Gun Corps from 1915 to 1918. In the second photo my grandfather Oscar Edward Coates who served in the Royal Air Force and died in Tunisia July 8th 1943, three weeks before my mother was born. He is buried at Enfidaville War Cemetery in Tunisia. How many more people must die in vain only for world powers to play a game of chess distributing power, money and land for their interests and their interests only. Happy Friday beautiful souls!!! Phew!! The energies of late do not disappoint!!! lol!! It’s been so incredibly strong for me so I can only imagine how y’all are feeling. Sending you so much love, strength, peace and surrender during this transformative time. I started getting light codes stream in on Monday eve as I fall asleep which has never happened before. My energy is so high right now that is actually feels uncomfortable as I help my body balance and release what is no longer in alignment. I feel lightheaded, tired ,woozy, ringing in my ears and in between worlds. This is when I know I need to spend time grounding this magnificent energy coming through. It could be by taking a nice long walk, deep breath’s and meditation or dancing like crazy!!!
