A lot of puppies have blue eyes but the majority of dogsโ eyes are in different shades of brownโ another fun fact: most dogs are born with blue eyes before the production of melanin (the substance responsible for pigmentation) increases. To make things more interesting, a study compared the iris colors of 22 gray wolves and 81 domesticated dogs and discovered that the iris colors of dogs were significantly darker than those of wolves. They found 12 photos of dogs on stock media websites and created two versions of each photo: one with yellow eyes, and one with black eyes. Participants rated the dogsโ presumed personalities. Dark-eyed dogs are seen as more friendly, attractive, and trustworthy than light-eyed dogs, possibly due to humans associating large pupils with babies. Brown eyes may also make an angry dog seem less threatening. Also, researchers believe that humans artificially bred dogs to have brown eyes many years ago, but there were also a variety of other explanations that ring true about the evolution of dogs. Sarbi, a black Labrador-Newfoundland cross, served as an explosive detection dog with the Australian Army in Afghanistan. During her second deployment, she went missing for 13 months after a major ambush. Sarbi, a brave dog, survived alone in Afghanistan for over a year after an ambush. She was found and reunited with her handler, Corporal David Simpson, and awarded for her courage with three medals including the Purple Cross for wartime service. Sarbi passed away in 2015 at age 12 from cancer. Her body was donated to the Australian War Memorial for display, symbolizing perseverance and hope. If you are following a bunch of free instructions and resources online and getting no where, this could be why. How-to tutorials are great for showing what could be possible. But they do not account for how much time it actually takes to improve your grooming experience. There's an unrealistic expectation that comes along with them that can leave guardians feeling like their dog is a lost cause. They show a step by step process, not taking into account that one of those steps could take some dogs and guardians weeks or months before they are ready to move on. One thing is for sure, rushing the training process will cause you to get stuck and have to go back to when it was successful. ... which is probably what was happening but you didn't even know it.
