Saw many more familiar faces & made a bunch of new friends the last few days here in Tehachapi🥰 Yesterday was the best wake up on trail yet… puppy love from 3 precious meathead babies🥹🐶🐶🐶🥲 Thank you StayGold for helping us out the last 2 nights! Sound on for the puppy video! 🏡🐶♥️ Before the shuttle rides picked up yesterday, I had some free time to check out the local thrift store, Sharing & Caring. I found a pair of overalls to ice dye and a really sweet kimono with tassels!🛍️😍 I also saw a wild cow yesterday🥹 Ok it was a bull…and he was just standing on the opposite side of the fence he should’ve been on… but I like calling them wild cows😂😍🐮💕 Last week @_jeweledmoon_art_work & I got to enjoy going out to the movies twice…1995 prices & vibes at the local theatre😍📽️🎞️ Pool & hot tub time went down last week, too. First time to bust out the swimsuit on this trip. Woo! My final post on climbing Mt. St. Helens. Our descent seemed to take a long time. Maybe it was because we had to be careful on the boulders, or maybe it was because my knee hurt like heck. Or maybe it was because we all had to pee (thank goodness for reaching the trees amiright?) But down we went back into the green and I had a lot of time to think. I kept cursing my knee, but I still kept going, keeping a good pace with the others. It’s what years of chronic back pain and surgeries have taught me. I knew with everything in me that I’d just keep going. It’s what I do. I considered this volcano that exploded when I was 9 years old. I’ve watched documentaries, a movie, seen before, during and after pictures. And I couldn’t help finding a kinship with this mountain. It had been a peaceful, lesser-celebrated creation just plugging along doing what it did best. And then KAPLOOEY. It was blown to pieces, almost halved in its capacity by something out of its control. Washingtonians wondered how/when/if it could recover. And over time, it did. It has. It’s not what it was before. It never will be. But the part that’s still standing? We celebrate it. And the part of me that’s still standing? Still pushing? Determinedly doing the things I CAN do? I will celebrate that.
