I love using acrylics to create spacey paintings and was so excited when I was commissioned to do this huge one! 3.5 feet by 2.5 feet 😱 I had so much fun putting on some old 90s music and dancing around while working on this painting! I had a few stumbles during painting, and a lot of stages where I absolutely hated what it looked like but I completely adore the final product 😍 I always find when I paint with acrylics it is easier for me to "go with the flow". I'm not as worried about making mistakes as I am with watercolor because for the most part they are easily fixable with acrylic... I can't wait to play around more with acrylic in the future! Normally on Good Friday my extended Family gets together to decorate Pysanka eggs but this year looks a little different... Watercolor instead of wax and dye, and let me tell you, it was HARD! Harder then I thought it would be, I much prefer the traditional way! I had many fails and these are the two eggs that came out *kinda* okay... I had a blast playing around with watercoloring on the eggs but I think I'll stick with paper and next year back to normal Pysanka! Trying to get a good reference picture of Glitch for this painting was a difficult process in itself... You see, Glitch has glitches. He makes funny faces, always sits weirdly and likes to yell at you, so getting a nice picture of him is almost impossible! Besides trying to get a neutral face out of him I struggled to get the right lighting so I could see some difference in coloring. After tons and tons and tons of pictures I finally got one that I could use. ONE! . I went back and forth for a while debating whether he should be normal colored or not... And after much debate I settled on color and even though the painting didn't come out exactly as I had planned, I love it and I can't wait to hang it in our home! What do you think?! Happy Friday the 13th! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I have been busy working on some bigger paintings and have had nothing to post! I unfortunately can't even share any progress pictures yet as some of the recipients may see! I am terrible at remembering to take pictures of my paintings during the process of making them. In order to remedy that and make myself remember to take more progress photos I am going to start regularly posting how my paintings were created and share any background about the pieces and how the process went! Throw back to some of my very first animal paintings which were some of my very first paintings ever! I made these three paintings as a set for my cousin as a gift for her baby shower! My sister turns 16 today! 😭 I'm feeling all emotional about it and the fact that I can't be there to celebrate with her makes it that much harder. Sunflowers are probably my favorite flower to paint and it just so happens that they are her favorite so I knew I had to paint her one. 🥰 I could write pages and pages about my girl and how amazing she is. I am so proud of her and the woman she is becoming. She is strong, she is funny, she is dorky, she is thoughtful, she is smart, she is kind and she is never without her beautiful smile.
