today is #worldwishday it started as a conversation with our oncologist about the Haunted Mansion @waltdisneyworld, I then jokingly said “speaking of Florida, can we go?” anticipating the answer to be “no” at this time Griff was platelet dependant, had just finished radiation for his stomach blockage + was possibly starting a new trial drug. Instead she responded “it’s only a 3 hour flight, I don’t see why you couldn’t” less than a week later @makeawish_canada + our team at CHEO made happen. G was on chemo when we left + his body was having a hard time keeping his blood levels up, his body was tired, very tired. In the 11th hour arrangements were made for blood product to be given here + in FLA so he could make it through the 5 days. Flights were cancelled + rescheduled hours before we were supposed to leave so that he COULD make it on this trip. At the time I knew he was sick, I contemplated waiting until his body had recovered from chemo but didn’t know what treatment we were in next, there always seemed to be another door that opened, so despite wanting to wait, I knew this was our window. Without saying it, they knew he was sicker + also urged us to go, I didn’t know it would be our last family trip a week later he passed away, because of @makeawish_canada + our team here we were able to take the trip + give him something (and us) to hang on to forever 🪽 #makeawish #makeawishfoundation #childloss #childhoodcancer #neuroblastoma

If so, you have had a wish. But what about children? Most kids wish to have fun, to play, to be accepted, for friendship, to have a happy home, and to learn. There are many, children however, that will never get the one thing they wish for. The reason for this is they have an incurable or critical illness that prevents them from getting their wish. Happy World Wish Day! The Make A Wish Foundation is incredibly close to our hearts at LBD Digital, because both our team members have actually been recipients of wishes! Amy’s wish was to swim with the dolphins. Being an animal lover growing up, the Make-A-Wish team turned her wish into a whole animal experience. Amy first went to Sydney (which was her first time visiting) for a behind the scenes look at the animal enclosure at Taronga Zoo. Her family then flew up to Coffs Harbour where Amy swam with Calamity the dolphin at Coffs Coast Wildlife Sanctuary before getting kisses from Ellie the seal. Amy and her family still look back on this moment with great memories! Madeleine was diagnosed with Leukaemia when she was 9, and is incredibly grateful for the opportunity to have a wish with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. She couldn’t decide between patting the dolphins at SeaWorld and meeting singer Dean Ray... But her indecisiveness ended up working out... Because the wish team said “Why not both?!” Her initial wish was to have a meet and greet with Katy Perry on her PRISM tour, but due to unforeseen circumstances the meet and greet wasn’t available.
