Obsessed with the new UBE series from @meetfreshontario ! These pretty drinks are not only instagram worthy but definitely a must try. My favourite is the Ube Green Milk Tea with Mini Taro Balls. The ube melts into the drink bringing a smooth and creaminess with each sip and the chewy taro balls are super yummy. While the drink is not too sweet, it would be nice if sweetness level was customizable. No words but 😭. This memoir by Michelle Zauner is just beyond beautiful. Being a Korean American (her mother is Korean and father is American), she describes the struggles of establishing her identity… before, during, and after the loss of her mother. The beginning of this memoir describes her trying to remember any bits of memory of her mother while being in a Korean supermarket, known as H Mart. The memoir then escalates from there with stories of how Korean food resonates with her. (Warning: Reading this with an empty stomach might be difficult with the mouthwatering descriptions as well as many mentions of @maangchi, a fabulous Youtuber notably known for her Korean recipes). There were moments in the book where most people could probably relate too with their relationship with their mother. Michelle Zauner describes these moments beautifully, where her mother would break in shoes for her. It’s the little things mothers do that you’re not aware of until later in life. ❤️ P.S. My roommate would order take out from here all the time. They have taro ball, grass jelly, tofu pudding, and almond soup desserts. They also have shaved ice, waffles, mochi, and drinks 😋 We came here for a quick dessert stop after my roommate's birthday dinner 🎉 . The only way I’ll eat fruit is when it’s dipped in chocolate. Like these enormous plump strawberries that were dipped in milk chocolate, drizzled with white chocolate, and gold leaf placed in top. Tried some desserts @ Meet Fresh for the first time and I ❤️ it. Meet Fresh Is a traditional Taiwanese dessert cafe. • 📷: Pictured here is their Q Mochi with shaved ice and a side Almond pudding with red bean. • The Almond pudding was fragrant smooth and refreshing. The red beans add nice flavour and texture. • The shaved ice was massive!! When I went to pick up my dessert I was so surprised. As I walked by the line up at the cash this guy saw my dessert and freaked out loud “Omg that is so big!”. 😂 • It came with so many toppings. Toppings included egg pudding, mini taro and sweet potato balls, boba bubbles. I love the taste and texture of all the toppings. 😍I tried to show the front and the back of the shaved ice in my pictures. My favourite was the q Mochi on the sides. The shaved iced was delicious. It tasted like there was brown sugar and condensed milk. Btw, in case you were wondering like I was, I thought the black ball on the top was black sesame ice cream. Instead it was a black sesame Mochi ball with peanut filling I think? School has been pretty crazy but it’s finally Christmas break!!! . 🎉What better way to celebrate than to eat some yummy desserts at @meetfreshontario 😋 they opened up a new location at Midland and McNicoll and had a B1G1 promotion so ofc I had to go!! . 🍮I took this opportunity to try out new things so I got the Egg Pudding with Boba and the Almond Pudding with Red Beans. They both came with four pieces of Mochi that were so chewy and yummy! . 😋My personal favourite was the almond pudding, it was so fragrant and I loved the almond flavour.
