Life can be a lot…… Today is World Mental Health Day. It’s a day to raise awareness of mental health issues. But like with any health issue it shouldn’t just be reserved for a day or a month it should be EVERYDAY. 💙🤍 So the minutes or the hours I spend in the EGG in the garden with a mug of coffee or exercising in my kitchen definitely balance out running the kids everywhere and a demanding job. Happy Thanksgiving friends. What I’ve learned over my 36 Thanksgivings is that gratitude is something to practice every single day. Even in the awful moments, there is always something to be thankful for. I am grateful for so much in my life, including the rights and freedoms that we have for self expression and small comforts. It is not lost on me that we have many privileges and rights that other people in other countries or situations do not have. As I’ve gotten older, I have noticed that my gratitude for the smaller things in life have grown bigger and bigger. A warm house, food in the fridge, comforting teas, the ability to go walking in the trees, absolute and ever expanding love and joy of my children and family, sunlight on my face, grounding my feet into the earth, being able to get on planes and travel or even just moving my body when I need too. Actively practicing mindfulness and gratitude also means you take less and less for granted, and in the smallness of these little moments I have found the pleasures of my greatest joys. I hope to continue to minimize and prioritize in my life, so that I can have never ending expansion in all other areas. The things that matter to me 10 years ago no longer matter at all, and when you start to dig at the root of some thing and pull it up, you see where all the beauty really lies and what’s really important.
