Eden Big Swim (source-to-sea river swim) @viewfromtheriver and friends are currently swimming the length of the River Eden to draw attention to the environmental issues facing it - from general pollution, sewage release, erosion and flood wash. Cleaning the river as they go, “our RuckRaft makes a brilliant waste truck” (flattery will get you everywhere) The 81 mile route will take them from North Yorkshire through Cumbria to the English border with Scotland where it enters the Solway Firth. A trip inspired by the @wildswimmingbrothers who completed the same route in 2015. Gusty lakes feel like the sea. - I didn't attend the Wednessay session as I needed a bit of a long lie in this week but I was back to it today. 515am alarm, 19mph winds gusting stronger and lack of coffee led me to just do 1 lap but I was there and that's what counts. The first 2 legs were smooth swimming essentially into and away from the wind but the final reach across the wind would have been challenging for any left sided breather. (Fortunately if I had a biased it would be my right). The wind created waves on the lake which felt at water level like sea swimming.
