A fun fast 5km with these ladies. 7 of us (we missed @bilsibub and @patriciamariec who were out due to injury) swam 5km at Wimbledon Leisure centre with lots of other swimmers raising money for @mariecurieuk and @cr_uk . Swimming today was a bit like the hokey cokey (in, out, in, out, shake it all about). Went to Boundary Park with the plan to do two swims with a break to warm up in between. 🏊 First swim was overcast and windy. Air temp of 7 but my phone said it 'feels like 3'. Did 20ish minutes in the water and 1200m. 🏊 Got out, layered up, had a hot chocolate and a snack before hiding from the wind in my car. Then the time came to put on a dry cossie and head back out 🏊 As I set off for the second swim the sun even came out. I don't know what it is about second swims but they are always better than the first. I think going in colder means you have less heat to lose therefore less shock but some people say you've just accepted your fate by this point. Spring has sprung but the air temperature hadn’t got the message early Friday morning, hovering at 4C. The sunshine played peekaboo with the clouds but the birds were singing full blast at our old favourite swim spot that we’ve left unvisited for too long.
