When you have experienced a persisting injury, it's common to hold on to feelings of resentment and even hatred towards a limb/body part. It's all in the language and thoughts, thoughts are real and "how you feel about a limb is intimately related to its immune function and blood flow.” But what does this mean? Your brain senses threat and danger in the limb that you hate, and by doing so it's overprotecting you by creating pain and not only that, actually restricts your blood flow and healing properties, therefore hindering you getting better. Aren't our brains amazing. We need to start loving our injuries and bodies, or at least attempt to change the language we use to describe them. "I'm broken", "My body is falling apart", "I have a dodgy/shocking knee/ankle/shoulder". Nordic Hamstring Curl - Hamstring strength ---- The Nordic hamstring curl involves kneeling on a pad (for knee comfort) and lowering under control while the ankles are held in place by a partner, a loaded barbell, or any other immovable object. Then extend the hamstring muscles to lean forward, I-E lean forward from the knee, not from the hip. . . . The Nordic is an eccentric hamstring exercise. We use this to build resilient hamstrings to prevent strains and tears! It burns but it's awesome! ******* Try 4 sets of 6 reps with 1-2 minutes rest in between If you don't have someone available to hold your feet, you can hook your heels under the weight machines at the gym or maybe your heavy couch at home. Always test it first to make sure that it's heavy enough to stop your weight. Abdominal muscle separation - without a doubt, this is one of the areas of pre and postnatal health that has the most 'myths' that need busting. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Let's get one fact sorted out to start with... 100% of women in their late third trimester will have separation of their abdominal muscles that would be considered a 'Diastasis Recti'. ELBOW STRENGTH SERIES 👉💪 ISOMETRIC🔛+ ↩️SUPINATION/PRONATION↪️ Here are some great exercises for elbow tendon rehab/ strengthening that can be used to decrease pain and improve elbow function ---- Elbow injuries are very common and can be due to: ⏺training or work load ⏺biomechanics ⏺thoracic or neck stiffness ⏺shoulder weakness (which can cause an overload of the elbow) ---- 🔛ISOMETRIC EX: 3-4 times per day for pain relief. Hold a light weight for 45 seconds. Repeat 4 times with 2 minute rest in between reps. ---- ↩️SUPINATION/PRONATION ↪️STRENGTH: Hold a light weight and very slowly rotate palm up for 2-3 seconds and down for 2 -3 seconds. Complete exercise 8 reps 4 sets with a 60 second rest in between sets. Complete 2-3 times/week. ---- You should always have an assessment first before participating in these exercises, as load, time, reps may need to be adjusted case by case. . . .
