Day 65 - A lovely slow morning in the bus. It was wet out, so we snuggled up and they read books to us. Eldest wrote about our walk yesterday (but I have no photos of that because I was in bed!). We took Peggy for a wet walk up the hill before heading to Pooleโs Cavern. Weโve been before, but that was a few years ago. It was ace! Even Peggy didnโt seem to mind the cold and the dark. Tilly bought a notebook in the gift shop and had decided to make it her โstory bookโ. She really seems to like writing at the moment. We went for a windy walk through the woods and up to Solomonโs Temple. The sun came out and it was a lovely ending to a fantastic weekend. Weโve had such a fun trip! The bus really felt like we used it how it was intended, and it didnโt disappoint. In total we recorded 7 bats (1 BLE, 1 Natterers, 3 WAB, 2 Myotis sp.,). When they are high up in the crevices it it very difficult to ID to species level! What's better than Christmas lights? Christmas lights in a cave! We did a self-guided tour through @pooles_cavern and, despite being very reasonably priced (ยฃ9 for an adult and under 5s free), there were only a few other people there which makes it a good alternative to some of the more popular and pricey light trails that can get really busy. The santa visit at Poole's Cavern was truly magical โจ๏ธ For YEARS we've tried to get tickets which sell out in minutes but the wait was so worth it!
