Last week, when I went home to visit my family , I pointed out to my mum that Simba looked like a potato. Turned out he was waiting for his big sister(and personal dog groomer) to arrive to activate his winter blowout. Over an hour later, which included two naps(for him), we have a defluffed tater tot. Simba and Bear...Bear was my first Chow Rescue, and Simba was my third. Bear ended up with my parents, and I adopted Simba on my parents' behalf.. both boys from London. When we rescued Pooh Bear he was only about 4-5 months and left for dead at auction. He had to be carried out, that’s how weak he was. It takes time to bring a horse back from being in the kill pen or feed lot. The physical part is the most obvious but they also need to heal from the mental and emotional damage. Another dog day on the yard - not just with Rory getting his groom, but we had a couple of volunteers spending the whole day working with various resident dogs throughout the day. Elva got a nice walk around the block, having a lovely sniff of various hedges and spots along the way. Benji, Willow, Dora and Missy Hope got playtime and grooming (and of course cuddles) in the back field. And Cairo and Sofitel had a new person in their kennel space, someone new feeding them and then some playtime in the fields. Almost 5 years ago, our @beastlyrescue foster Rupert (right) was adopted, became Morty and lived in Brooklyn with his humom until he recently got sick and passed away.💔 At the same time, his look-alike, (also our foster) Marlowe was up for adoption…. We are happy to share that Morty’s humom, Hilarie has opened up her heart and home to Marlowe (now Gracie 💗)! Our girl who was far from perfect at being a dog, yet so perfect in so many ways, has a home! 🏠In just a couple of short weeks with Hilarie, she almost has potty training down, has learned to love being outside, rolling in the grass and going for walks and happily sleeps with her humom and accompanies her everywhere. Nova needs to be the only dog in the home and wants to keep her distance from other dogs on walks but absolutely adores people!! This adorable girl has a lovely, inquisitive-but-gentle temperament. She’s attentive, playful and energetic, but she also loves naps and being cozy. She’s very puppy-like; she will try to sit on your lap, just like a cat! Nova will try to snuggle with you on the sofa or bed. She bonds to her people quickly. She has been tested with kids ages 5 to 12 and does amazing with them all + adults! She understands ‘sit’ commands, and she’ll signal when she needs to go outside.
