Reyna is a dobie/shepherd mix who came into rescue in 2016 as a 3-month-old puppy. Reyna survived parvo but was diagnosed with Megaesophagus (ME). Her ME is mild and she does well just eating from an elevated bowl. She was also diagnosed with EPI, which is a pancreatic enzyme insufficiency where a dog’s pancreas does not produce the digestive enzymes necessary to break down the food they eat. Treatment is fairly easy – adding specific supplements and enzymes to their food. Luckily, Reyna’s health has been stable for a long time, and she is on a good feeding routine. She is good with people but can be selective when it comes to dog friends – she’s a bit bossy. Ultimately Reyna would love to finally find her forever home. She has so much love to give and we’re hoping a special someone comes along who can’t live without this pretty girl! We always pray the dogs we take find their forever homes fast, this one was likely a record. Sweet Jax came to us as his owner was having issues with his eating and struggling with other commitments. Our sweet tiny little cutie Alyssa is getting spayed today. She is only 6 lbs and 1 year old and beyond ready to find her very own family! ❤️🐾 This sweet girl suffered a permanent condition at the hands of humans. 💔 She has what is referred to as “pulled tail”. As a result of this injury, her tail is “dead” and she drags the knuckles of one of her back paws. She also cannot control when she poops. She has not let this slow her down in any way!!! Even though someone did this to her, she just wants to be loved and maybe have a playmate or two. She was found as a stray in Yuma where she needed help out of the shelter. Our sweet old Yuma boy, Walter, had surgery today. He lost all of his teeth and his testicles. 🤭 His mouth was sooooo bad and he’s going to feel so good now that all of that pain in his mouth is gone. Our sweet little girl Maya is ready for her forever family! She is sweet and a little shy meeting new people, but she warms up quickly. Maya loves playing with her foster sibling doggies and being with her foster parents. She LOVES to go for walks. 🐾 She has not had any potty accidents. Maya is only 8 years old and she found herself in a Tucson shelter after her only family were no long able to care for her. 💔 Once she came to us, we tended to her medical needs. She lost 17 teeth during her dental and had abbess’s in her mouth treated. She feels great now! She had a lump on her leg that was slow growing skin cancer. Miss Maya is ready for adoption! ❤️ This sweet girl is 8 years young. She has been through a lot in the last few months. She found herself in the shelter as her one and only family had an emergency and could no longer care for her. She was so lost and scared. After about 5 days we were able to get her pulled out. She settled into a nice quiet foster home where she found her new buddies. 🐶 She went to the vet to have a dental and ended up having 17 teeth removed. On top of that, they found a spot on her leg that was removed and sent in for testing. It turned out to be low grade skin cancer. The excellent news is the tests showed they got it all (the edges were clear). Sweet Maya LOVES to go for walks. She has not had potty accidents in her foster home, and loves her foster parents. We have one of the best pupdates! Back in June we went to San Bernadino to pull two dogs from a high kill shelter. While we were there, they showed us two tiny little girls that were at the back of the kennel growling and barking. They were so overwhelmed and terrified. The shelter marked them as “aggressive” and put them in a kennel not open to the public. Our hearts broke as we drove away because we didn’t have any open foster space, so we couldn’t take them. Well, all of the stars aligned as events started to fall into place. A medical dog we had committed to ended up needing our help only two days later. An amazing volunteer who loves to make the drive just happened to be on vacation from work. And we had another person offering to pay for gas. While she was there, we asked her to try to find the two girls. We prayed they were still alive. After talking with staff, she found our girls, and they had zero rescue commitments. We had two foster parents on call, ready to go. 🐾 The girls were so stressed by the time they were corralled by staff, microchipped and kenneled. They made the 5 hour drive back to Phoenix and got settled into their foster homes. Once they were in the new quiet settings where they could sit with a person in quiet, it did not take them long to warm up. They started to show their true…loving…colors. Before Thanksgiving, Baby found an amazing family. ❤️ They really listened to all of our recommendations about giving her time to settle in and adjust. She is doing wonderful and she loves her new family, including her four legged sister!!! Happy New Year! Our new little ones went to see the doctor at VEG yesterday to ensure they are doing well and to get them started on some medication. Old man Sparky’s heart and lungs sound great. ❤️ He has a skin infection going and of course a horrible mouth. As a result, he has been started on antibiotics. Sparky is eating really well!!! Little Girl (now Alyssa) is doing great. We wanted to make sure she was expressing her bladder and bowls okay. All looks good, so next stop for her will be to see Dr. Soderstrom to see why her back paw is dragging. Both of these little ones are so sweet and very happy! Well, sweet Maya went to the vet today for a dental. She had a bigger day than originally planned. She did have her dental where she lost 17 teeth today. Her mouth is going to feel so much better soon! Thankfully they also found a decent size tumor that turned out to be skin cancer. This type of cancer in dogs doesn’t typically spread fast, so the hope is that by removing it today it will all caught. The mass is being sent out for testing so we can have confirmation it was all removed! Maya will be so happy to get back to her foster home where she can rest and recover. We welcomed two special kiddos today. Their mom is having health issues and through lots of tears, said goodbye to them today. We promised to take extra special care of them and work hard to find them amazing families to shower them with love. Boris (tan) is a 10 year old Terrier. He is such a sweet and happy boy! Freedom ride for Maya!! Her foster mom has been in the car for hours thanks to an accident on I10 heading to Tucson. She finally made it and was able to get Maya. Rescue underway! So so so so many dogs in need right now. It’s heartbreaking seeing hundreds of pictures knowing we cannot help. We are such a small group and are committed to helping where we can but ONLY when we have an open foster home. We are so happy that today we can help Maya. ❤️🐾 This poor sweet girl spent her 8 years of life with one family, but tragedy has struck the family and they had to take Maya to the shelter. 💔 We saw the plea that Phoenix Animal Care Coalition (@pacc911) put out for her. She had such glowing reports from her family but she is completely stressed out in an overcrowded Tucson shelter. Maya, your foster mom just left her home in Ahwatukee to make the drive to Tucson to get you.
